has anyone ever been caught going thru the ez pass with out one.?
i just got a letter in the mail that two months ago i drove thru a ezpass but it doesnt say were and it says i owe a 25.75 .75 for the doll and 25 for the fine… the thing it does say is the time and date , and for some reason i think i was jet sking that day and maybe have been by the grand island bridge or in canada but the time on the note says 7:09 pm and i went and looked at my work paycheck and i was at work at 7:30 pm.
so in other words some how i managed to blow thru the toll drive all the way home to lancaster, get my car and drive to cheek. where i work in 20 minutes…
my question is that i called the number to fight it and i believe they said if its your first violation send just the toll amount, has anyone ever had this happen and just sent 75 cents or w.e. the toll was?

Happened to me a while ago. I just sent in the toll and that was that. Just send in a $.75 cent check and you will be fine.
im fine sending a check in but i know for a fact that i wouldnt go thru an ez pass lane and slowdown to 5mph or 20 , i would probably have blown right thru it… and the fact that i was at work at 7:30 that day … but w.e. if i had time i fight it but i guess its only 75 cents
I had the same thing happen to me. It said I went through a lane on Nov. 9th, but my car was off the road on the 7th. Call and complain. Give them the description of your car. They will pull the picture up. If they think it is you , they will mail you a photo of the pic. If not, it will get dropped, mine did.
you guys do know you CAN go faster then 5 miles and 20 miles posted?
the sensors are speed rated at 175 miles an hour.
New York state has this obsession with loving to cause traffic back ups which i do not understand why. We need Open Road Tolling here

Believe it or not there is actual logic to the speed limit. Since we have manned toll booths it would be like frogger for the toll workers without a speed limit. It would also probably increase accidents due to the average retarded driver leaving the manned booths.

actually a year or two back i got a citation in the mail for a speed violation from the ezpass lane it said i was doing 24 in one of the 5 stations and they said if it happened again my ezpass would be revoked indefinitly

Don’t pay it, call and complain. It is more than likely they fucked up. In the past 2 years I’ve had 3 different penalty charges for different things like going too fast through the toll for the transmitter to register. All of them were screw ups on their part and they took care of it, reluctantly.

I guess my father drives through them kind of fast and they fine him like $40 per incident or something.
I love the convenience of EZPass but I hate having to deal with them.
A while ago I got a speeding warning because of ezpass, but it was my my actual speed of travel, not speed through the toll. The took the time I went though the Lackawanna and Blasdell booths and calculated my avg speed. I almost shit when I opened that letter.
Who was the warning from, EZPass? I worry they’ll sell that information to my insurance company who will in turn raise my rate because they can see I’ve been “speeding”.

People ask me about my tinfoil hat when I rant about why I will never get an ezpass, but the reality is that they can and will find ways to get money out of everyone. And they will make it hard to fight. The reality is that if you’re not going 7-10 over on most open parts of the thruway, excluding heavy traffic/rain/snow, you are getting passed by everyone including semis, and not always safely. Flame on.
