I’m looking to lighten the car up a little this year. I have 6 point S&W roll bar(Welded with plates) with straight 1"/2" boxed steel for subframe connectors. Anyone think with the roll bar being installed, I can ditch the subframes? Thanks.
I wouldn’t; the subframes lock the bottom of the roll bar together and triangulate everything making it stronger; you could remove it, but it will weaken the car. I may suggest replacing the subframes with something lighter, like a BMR or QMI Chromoly setup if you’re concerned about weight; but I don’t suggest removing them all together.
