Fatal Accident Kills Two

POSTED: 5:19 pm EDT June 25, 2006

JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH – According to police, 30-year-old Kathleen Singer left an ice cream shop on Route 43 Saturday night when her 2001 Pontiac Grand Am pulled out in front of a passing motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, 25-year-old Cory Hamilton of Steubenville was thrown from the bike and died instantly from the crash.

According to police, Hamilton did wear a helmet, but the damage done from high speeds claimed the lives of both drivers.

“The motorcycle was pretty much demolished. It more or less disintegrated on impact showing that there was some speed with it. We haven’t yet determined the speed, that is still under investigation,” said Lt. Matt Evans of Ohio Highway Patrol.

Medical crews took Singer to Trinity West by ambulance, but she later passed away at the hospital.

Police say Singer is technically responsible for the accident since she pulled out in front of Hamilton’s motorcycle.

Guy on the bike was my best friend from second grade till he moved to Florida. he recently moved back within the last 6 months. I spoke with him a couple weeks ago and we were supposed to hang out. Another reason I wont be buying a bike I dont think.

how fast was he going to kill a girl in a car on a motorcycle?

i know he liked to go fast. im guessing 100+ to die instantly

that sucks, but man, if he wasn’t going that fast, then the outcome may have been different. Again, I’m sorry for your loss bro.

Sorry to say but it sounds like he was just as responsible as she was. No need to be riding that fast on a public road with cross traffic.

sorry to hear bout your loss

Damn. Sorry to hear.

Sorry to hear that man.

On a side note don’t let situations like this sway you from doing somthing you may want to.

i know i shouldnt let this keep me from buying a bike eventually but my fiance wont exactly let me buy one. she doesnt want me killing myself or so she says.

sorry to hear

sorry

my wife won’t let me buy a bike either. But it’s probably better that I don’t have one, so I really don’t care anymore. I used to want one real bad, but now that I have kids it just seems like a risk that doesn’t need to be taken. I will stick to a vehicle that had metal around me.

Sorry to hear. Sounds like both parties were being careless.

I gotcha bud.

That last part about “so she says” is pretty funny. Wait till she is pissed off at you, she may hope you kill yourself then and you can just laugh and say whatever…lol

sorry to hear.

Sorry to hear… but on a bike you can die at any mph… hell there was that one local guy pulling out of a redlight… and hit a car crossing the road and he died at a very low mph… but like i said sorry to hear!

sorry to hear

the showing last night was horrible. just doesnt seem real till you get up there and hug his mom someone that was like a mother to you for 17 years and you see your friend lying there and all that keeps running through your mind is old memories. guess it really just started sinking in. if you could just please pray for his family.

man i am sorry to hear about this. but you cant let others accidents influence your life. yes riding a bike is a risk my wife hates mine and begs me to sell it everyday… but i live my life, who knows i could fall down the steps and break my neck anything can happen
