FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU v. MONROE MUFFLER

dot

Listen to this guy.

Oh, and the wiper blades sitting in the wrong spot, that is just plain their fault.

Wiper systems are fundamental 4-bar crank/rocker linkages. If you take the linkage off the electric motor and don’t put it back together in exactly the same spot the wipers won’t stop in the right spot. Easy mistake to make, but they’re fucking douche bags for letting it out of the shop fucked up.

Ive had good experiences with the one in lockport.

since when does changing wiper blades require messing with the linkage? the only way to change that would be to take the arm off the motor (which usually has a square bore) and put it on a different spot, kinda hard to mess up.

but a dead spot on the return circuit inside the motor causes that.

the wiper blades didnt need to be replaced there was an electrical issue I still dont know exactly what it was.

yep pauly that is exactly what the plan is

If you dont want to go corp. you can call the regional manager Buffalo Area his name is Mark P. you can call the store aand ask for the regional’s number.
I know alot of people that are with and have been with that co for years. Theres a guy at sheridan/blvd Mark B. (manager) who is one of the best/smartest auto techs i have ever met, and honest as the day is long. He does most things to my and my families cars. I’d trust him with anything. really good guy (been with the co like 30 years)

yeah I have a pretty good friend at the Medina one and they always hooked me up. I had never met this guy before though.

My buddy said I basically got fucked but there isn’t much he can do :(.

Not all are square. In fact most GM’s are splined with a very small pitch. So there’s probably 100 different ways to put the arm on.

Reminds me of when I had old shitty cars, no tools or a place to work, didn’t know much about cars, etc. All I can say is I feel for 'ya. I do agree that unless you know the people at a specific store, it’s better to stay away from chains. OTOH, there are some crooked small shops too, so it’s best to rely on word of mouth for either. A small shop that has been in business a long time is a good sign as well.

I’d try small claims court, you have been fucked.

My mom had some work done there, to sum it up, her engine ended up blowing and they had to pay to have a new engine put in her car. It was a big ordeal, they wouldn’t man up untill my mom got a lawyer and filed a suit against them. arrgh…

you are right too, but I was talking about the linkage to motor. regardless, why would anyone need to take the arms off of the car to change the wiper blades.

and if they changed the position of the arms they would go off the windshield/into the cowl and strip out the splined rod.

if they operate normally yet park in the wrong position it is either the electrical or physical park circuit inside the wiper motor.

the goodyear that I worked at did really good work. Three of the tech did fantastic work, but one of them not so much. As far as the “rip off services” like coolant flushes and all some of that BS preventative maintenance. That is corporate pushing that stuff on the management not the techs usually.

on the wipers. Do they have a park setting? some cars the wipers hide in the cowl then when you turn them on they rise up a little but for duty and when you turn them off they got back to their park setting. I have seen the sensor go bad and when you turn the wipers off the rise to the middle of the window, but it you turn them back on they go to their normal position to operate. If this is the case it is certainly NOT monroe’s fault but if they repositioned the wiper arm way up on the splines and the wipers are swinging off the window (which would happen if the arms were several splines off) then they are retards.

any of you guys own/work on a montana/venture wanna talk f’ed up wiper systems. my wifes would regularlly park in the middle of the windsheild for no good reason

That’s funny - I just did a credit card dispute with them for some shitty work, and won. I can’t understand how they can even be in business.

my car ran fine until Monro got their hands on it. Glad I got my money back at least.
