Easy. In NY you WIC, HEAP, HUD, free healthcare, almost no taxes and other assistance. Then you get an off the books job and pay cash for your booze, cigs, cell phone etc.

I would assume that they are just referencing the city of Buffalo. The majority of people who make decent money in Buffalo live in the suburbs.
I’m serious, i dont get how 30%(# in buffalo) can support a family of 4 on 21,8 I’m numerous times over that and have difficulty at times. Maybe i just suck that bad w/ money
There is obviously not enough govt spending here. Govt spending is the answer to economic growth. Higher taxes and more spending will attrack more business to come here! DUH!
Well, start off by taking 21.8k home with almost nothing taken out for taxes.
Then don’t worry about paying your heat bills because HEAP will take care of it. Then don’t worry about food because foodstamps take care of it. That portion of your check you’re probably losing for a family health plan through work, you get to keep that now because Healthy New York pays for your healthcare. NFTA has a low income discount bus pass, so you don’t have a car payment or car insurance. HUD kicks in with section 8 housing.
This is just stuff I know about. Go talk to a 2nd or 3rd generation welfare family and prepare to vomit when you hear all the tricks they’ve learned to play the system. I’ve got a great aunt who brags about how she just got a new driveway, all new doors/windows, more free food than she can eat and her heat paid for. The amount of assistance available in this state is mind blowing if you really start digging into it and they’ve made it so anyone who learns to use the system will never want to get off it. Hell, last year this aunt used up her HEAP credits too fast keeping the house 80 degrees, but figured out if she let the fuel oil supply run out they’d give her more emergency credits.

Hey! I used HEAP last year! only once because of our scum bag landlord refusing to fix broken windows in the attack and refusing to service the furnace. But I agree to many losers use it like income instead of emergencies.

I don’t think poor people realize they are poor. It’s statistics like these that point out the obvious and then they make excuses and try to cover up the fact that Buffalo is a poor city.
Ask Byron Brown what he thinks about the statistics and i bet you will get an answer similar to, “well considering the circumstances…”

This whole area should be so developed it’s silly.
We have one HUGE tourist attraction in the falls.
We have a massive waterfront that could be leveraged.
But everything is so poorly managed here it’s sick. I heard that it’s likely that NF won’t have enough money to remain on the “wonders of the world” list and will lose that title. First thing I said was WTF, you can buy your way onto a wonder of the world list? Second thing was…what are they retarded to not renew that? Shit the Seneca casino would prolly give them the cash just to keep the title and allure.
And as pointed out…the poor class is supported by the middle class. So is the rich, supported by the working class (rich pay far less relative taxes for example). So middle class is always bent over, pants down trying to get away from the rape. Poor don’t want to get ahead and they are poor for a reason (be it lack of drive or intelligence).
But ya gotta have several classes. Poor often do jobs the middle and upper class won’t. Of course that’s IF they work and don’t just collect welfare and heap etc…
This area should be thriving, where else in the usa do you have the oppurtunities that we have(water/mnts/canada/etc…) and no earthquake/floods/tornadoes/etc… people should be flocking here.
