well, I have had serious issues with iTunes over the past year with my iPod and such…and for months now have gone without music on my iPod because I could no longer deal with iTunes. well, a friend at school mentioned that the makers of mozilla came out with an alternative called “songbird”, so I decided to give it a try.
IT IS PERFECT lol
It looks ALOT like iTunes, but without the stupid glitches and crap. once you download and install it, It automatically located ALL MEDIA on your computer and puts it into your library. you can then select all and add it to your iPod, and walk away. AWESOME…no more browsing for every separate album/song/etc and importing manually taking hours every single time iTunes would “forget” where all my music is.
Just installed/imported all 4000 songs from itunes… and wow, songbird is really smooth! great find!
I really like the mashTape section, it displays bios for the band of whatever song is playing, shows the discography, fan reviews and recommendations… very cool. Also the videos tab does a search through youtube it looks like, and you can pop up the videos right in songbird.
I have to get my ipod from my car to see how that syncs up for me.
I’ve used itunes from the very beginning, never with a problem or glitch. I find it intuitive and useful. Honestly, I don’t understand how the complaints are founded.
because you have probably never used anything else. I personally love the zune software but would take a simple drag and drop folder interface over either any day of the week.
I’ve been using songbird for a while now and it really is pretty amazing. I wish more firefox extensions worked with it so I could drop firefox as well.
yea, other than the duplicate crap itunes is the shit for keeping stuff organized. my itunes at home is slow as hell but it is like 60GB of songs so tons of indexing going on…
+1 I’ve never had an issue. Also, you can have iTunes auto-locate all your music as well.
I spent a good 3 weeks retagging all my ID3 tags, and renaming file names so all my shit works perfectly. iTunes  although I did download Songbird a while ago and it was alright, I still prefer iTunes.
