I personally wouldn’t touch mesh and would never have it my gear. But that’s just a quasi, non scientific biased opinion. I don’t trust it. After seeing pictures of what happens when you wear “old mesh” and after dealing with my fair share of road rash… if I’m wearing gear and spending money on it, it might as well protect me best it can.
Hightop shoe seems gimmicky to me as well, it’s always been steel toe boots at first and my Sidi boots as of the last few years. Once again “non scientific” bias, for all I know they protect just as well, but it’s not a risk I’m willing to take. Limping around for a week after a crash or an accident isn’t fun, I don’t want to do that for the rest of my life.
Also worth looking into back protectors as well, FYI
I trust your guys’ opinion so I’ll look into leather and boots.
For the boots, the BRC site says no tall heels. Is this considered a tall heel? I originally was going to get these but it seemed like maybe they were talking about this type of heel?
