Well, step 1 complete. Got my permit.
Now go sign up for the MSF course
Signed up last week. August 1st and 2nd all day. Like 18hrs of instruction.
Next step is to go to Phibbs and try on some helmets to see what size my melon is. Is there any other shops in the area I should also consider for gear?
Ronnies on western up the road from my shop. Good dudes there, less of salesmen more like friends and fellow riders.
Griffens on central. I know a tech and the parts/sales kid there both raced MX with me. Very smart bike dudes and can help alot. The salesmen there are more salesmen and pushy to an extent but they have lots of stuff so if you know what you want its another place to buy it.
sbardy seems grumpy
Thanks dude. I’ll check them out.
i second ronnies for helpful input aswell as griffens, you def gotta figure out what size head and shape it is, it took me a while to figure out the right helmet and every brand isent the same size, icon and hjc generally are the same size because they are like honda and acura, same company but different grade of product
thats a fucking quote
Picking up a white 2013 Ninja 300 either wednesday or thursday (depending on how long it takes for the dealer to track one down and get it to his shop). Honestly, feels good to buy something straight cash and not have to worry about a loan. Now if only I could sell my Canon 7D (sold the lenses already to put me over the top to buy a bike), I could immediately start with some goodies. :lol
Wanted a black one originally, almost bought one locally (used), but decided to get a white one instead since I already have a black car and always regret not looking around for a white one. Could have had either.
sweet bike, my cousin Amanda has the same one but hers is black/ pink.
Not sure if you’re actually saying it’s a sweet bike or if you’re taking a dig at me because it’s the same bike your female cousin drives :lol. Oh well, I know it’s not a popular choice for a man, but I’ve ready nothing but good things about it and people who have owned one or own one tell me that the rest of you can suck it :rofl.
Either way, I’m picking it up on Thursday and I can’t wait. Been wanting a bike for many many years but never followed through with it because of various reasons. Finally doing something I’ve wanted to since I was a little boy.
Congrats! I wanted a bike for the longest time, so I know that feeling of finally owning one.
The white looks really good. Nice choice!
Any mods planned for it yet?
Where do I start? I have my whole plan worked out lol. I’ve been researching and looking at different things on the 300 forum pretty much daily for hours lol. Pretty much have the entire plan spelled out to a T :lol.
The major things are:
- Kawasaki Rear Seat Cowl
- BKMoto Headlight HID Retrofit
- Integrated LED Tail Light
- HotBodies TAG Fender Eliminator Kit
- 15 tooth front sprocket and 43 tooth rear sprocket
- Area-P FI Micro Programmer
- K&N Filter
- Akrapovic Slip-On
- Pazzo Levers (shorty clutch, stock brake)
- Zero Gravity Double Bubble Windscreen
- Shogun Sliders
The rest is small cosmetic things here or there.
Nice
not busting on you at all, looks wise the bike is gorgeous. I just really hate how skinny the back tire is.
Yeah, me to. It’s a 140. I might eventually go to a 150 or maybe a 160 (jury is still out on that size on the forum).
Wow, that’s a long list of mods!
I think the skinny tire isn’t really a big deal. It still has plenty of rubber on the sides, but a smaller contact patch in the middle that you’ll only use in straight-line acceleration. But some stickier rubber wouldn’t be a bad idea. That’s probably the best “safety” mod you can do to a motorcycle.
Nice bike, congrats Ilya… I’ll have to check it out when you get it…
I really don’t intend to upgrade to a bigger bike. That’s the plan. So, this is going to get modded with the intent of keeping it and making it just perfect for myself. Having watched hours upon hours of videos, I really don’t see the use or need to get a bigger bike. The only thing I will miss out on, is the sound that the bigger bikes have…that’s why I’m going with the Akrapovic. It’s the closest that I’ve found to having that ‘whine’ when at RPM.
I hear with the slip-on, area-p, and sprocket…this bike really becomes something special.
:tbu
Beautiful bike.
I do hope when you saved up to purchase it you also included monies for a helmet. jacket, gloves, moto pants and moto boots.
Have fun and welcome to the world of “Two” wheels.
I have new Diablo Rosso II’s cheap if you’re interested. Only 140 rear though - as larger contact patch on the 300 doesn’t mean better.
