It’s been ages since I had a fast car to enjoy. I had a 6 speed Mini JCW for the last two years, which was a great fun car, good for blasting through gears, and an occasional auto x, but just didn’t scratch the itch for power and sound.
I started searching and kept coming back to the AMG GT’s, I ended picking this guy up in October from Jersey. 2 owner, full dealer history, 21,000 miles, fully loaded, all carbon options and the aftermarket “Renntech like” front and rear carbon splitter, side skirts, and rear wing came with it. (All of which I would have put on anyhow and I especially don’t like how the rear looks without it)
Thanks, yeah it’s a pearl white which is exactly what I was looking for. Somehow I found the one car on the planet that is exactly how I would have spec’d it from the factory.
I probably raced autocross with you at some point with your JCW, assuming you went to the Bills stadium with the WNY SCCA crew. That Mercedes will be good at it as well, plus it will make significantly better noises.
I did 2 events in 2023, and couldn’t make time this past year with the limited schedule they had, I always had something conflicting. Sucks because I bought Azenis and only used them once.
Hopefully I’ll make it this year, I already have something conflicting for the first event.
I just put a eurocharged tune on it and she really rips now. I haven’t opted for catless downpioes just because I don’t think I need them power wise, but I am taking out the secondary cats in a few weeks.
I also added car play, which is the only thing the car is really missing. Definite must add if you get one.
Their schedule is so messed up because of the new stadium being built. Thankfully the new stadium is on time, with no delays. Otherwise they would be storing materials in the old stadium lots where we race, and we wouldn’t have any events. But even so, the schedule is lame. 1 event in May, and then event #2 in July lol. That’s a big gap. A lot of the guys/gals that run the show go to big national events that take place in June. Plus they are in talks to finding a new location to race, somewhere along the outer harbor I heard, could be wrong. Hopefully you can get out to the July event!
Not happening. When I saw you post this I started looking at satellite views and as a former SCCA safety steward I immediately was like, “Well, the only lot that has any potential is the lot near terminal B”. So I went searching WNY SCCA and found their facebook page, where 14 hours ago they posted this:
Hey all. Just an update to the status of potential events at the Terminal B lot at the Outer Harbor. They just got back to us today and they decided against hosting events there. I’m pretty bummed about this as I’m sure others are.
But I at least want to take the time to thank D**** P**** for doing pretty much all the legwork to try to make this happen. We were pretty close but got the axe at the last leg.
With the amount of people going to the outer harbor for recreation on the weekends getting them to dedicate that giant lot to SCCA for almost the entire day was probably a real longshot.
Figures that I would get back into autocross (was big into it back in the early 2000s when I was a youngin) when they lose their spot. I’m not really up to driving an hour and a half to get to the FLR or Erie events and then having to drive all the way back home.
I have a good friend that is high up with the Bills, I told him that the need to keep a few parking lots wide open for us once the plans are revealed for the old stadium site.
Trying to put a few more miles on it so if the transmission pukes its guts everywhere I can still get it warrantied without them saying a preexisting problem
There’s a transmission seal in these transmissions that fucks the whole thing when it goes. It’s the only weak spot on these cars and it can happen out of nowhere.
