going back 7 pages…but i think these suit the car really well for an OEM rim.

I agree. But everyone told me they won’t look good (like that) unless I slam the car. I’m pretty sure the guy with that car is only dropped like 1.6" and I’ll be dropping 1.25". That’s the rims I WOULD get but everyone says it’ll look like crap.

Could do these instead of the Penta’s…MRR GT-1 Hypersilver:

Guy might even let you try them on before… just sayin

im also wondering if your M is awd and if it is, can you stagger wheels on it? im told that quattro spazzes out if you stager wheels. i can only get MUCH bigger spacers for the back to make it look like its staggered.

I am AWD. I should probably pose that question on the M forum.

As long as the overall rolling diameters are the same I don’t see why it would be a problem.

The last couple sets of rims are much better suited for your car.

I think I’m going to go with the last set I posted (MRR GT-1). Not sure if I’m going to do 19" or 20" (see below).

  1. I see it on an M already (not photoshopped) and like it
  2. They are much cheaper than some of the others. Our roads here aren’t that bad (or at least the ones I travel on) so I don’t need to spend $3k+ on forged sets, etc. in order to prevent damage. The areas I travel to outside of Albany don’t usually have horrible roads anyway. Plus, I dodge potholes even right now in stock form so I’m used to looking for imperfections in the road.
  3. Easier to replace if need be and definitely more fiscally responsible
  4. They look just as good.

As for 19" or 20"…here is the OEM 19’s on a lowered car (on Eibachs which should be about 1.6"):

I don’t know about you guys…but if that is remotely what my M will look like if I go 19" OEM’s…NO THANK YOU.

Either that car needs spacers or something else is up because that is not attractive…AT ALL. Those wheels look small. 20’s and that drop (and a right combination of offsets) probably would have been better.

They look crappy, sunk in to much and tires are too big

Yeah…according to my googling…this is the offset of the OEM wheels:

Sport : 19 x 8.5 50mm
Non-Sport: 18 x 8 47mm
Spare : 17 x 4T 30mm

So I’d need something like +43 or less probably to get fully ‘flush’…yeah? Mine are almost flush and they are evidently +47.

Ok my guess for nice fitting wheels would be 19x9 +25mm or 20" whatever

25? Damn, I haven’t seen a set yet for any of the ones I like or that look like the Penta’s. Lowest I’ve seen is +35. But I think I’m definitely going to go 20". Hell, maybe I should just try the 21’s? Those 19’s look tiny.

EDIT: Found the MRR GT-1 in 20x10 +25 or +43. $299/each.

Or 20x8.5 +25/+35 F and 20x10 +25/+43 R (staggered setup).

10" wide and +25 is pretty good, any pics of them on your car?

Yeah…although I have no idea what exact setup this car is running:

Here is what I think I would run in two different scenarios:

Non-Staggered -

Wheels: 20x10 +25 F/R
Tires: 255/35/20

Staggered -

Wheels: 20x8.5 +20 F and 20x10 +25 R
Tires: 245/35/20 F and 255/35/20 R

Tires in both cases would be Continental ExtremeContact DW’s…I’ve heard crazy things about the DW’s and DWS’s. Their scores on tirerack are all in excellent across the board.

EDIT: Got a reply on the M forum. No staggering on the AWD models as it’s recommended that everything is done in 4’s.

So 20x10 +25? Everyone in agreement that will look sexy with the MRR GT-1’s? I mod for myself, but I also like it when people look at the car lol.

Thought so. Do all 4 the same then. You can get some spacers and make it look staggered if you want that look. Benny: Im not sure if its the rolling diameter thats the issue, the rim width makes the difference here. Im thinking with the rolling diameter itd be a tire wear issue, vs two wheels gripping more than the other two and the transmission computer spazzing out because its not a momentary thing like hitting a patch of snow.ice, but itll be a constant disbalance with traction and THAT will make it spazz out.

Nah, I actually think wheels that have lips look funny staggered since the rear lips are usually bigger. I’d prefer it all too match.

So 20x10 +25 should be good…I’ll be shooting for that.

yea, 10 wide should be nice. its a larger car, so it should look proportional. +25 should be nice as well, theyre not gonna be pushed WAY into the car. with 20s tho, id leave it gapless. sit it so the apex of the fender is the same as the top of the tire. that would look sweeeet! and it wont be so low that you cant daily it.
