The last couple of weeks on my way to work I’ve noticed crews lining up equipment for running cable. After the storm I just assumed it was power related. Then a few days ago the spools if big orange conduit showed up and they started burying it. It looked just like the conduit AT&T used to run for our digital lines at my old job. Today on my way back from lunch I stopped and asked one of the guys what they were running, and he confirmed my suspicion. They’re running the conduit for fiber! They’ve already T’d it off to run down the line that goes behind my street too.
They’re working on Red Oak near Clearfield right now. Crossing my fingers this is for Fios, but I can’t imagine any other reason why they’d be running fiber smack in the middle of a residential area.
See, that I wouldn’t get very excited about because that just means it could still be years before they actually get into all the little neighborhoods. What I was surprised about was to see them right in the middle of a residential area, no where near any major roads.
my appartment complex is already wired up for fios. Is it possible to start getting the service yet?? They have been parking there sales reps in front of my comlpex advertising it.
I knew I should have posted up sooner telling all…
I live by Red Oak and Cottonwood. I knew they were running it two weeks ago
Sorry for keeping you guessing, living in the same neighborhood. But, don’t get all excited too soon…
It wont be up for a little while however, as the main relays havent reached the area. They want to be able to connect the area within 6-9 months depending on weather. But, we will be prepared when they do! So, thats good news
Well, I’d rather see them push the timeframe back and make sure it’s ready to go before releasing it, as opposed to Time Warner that just makes changes when ever they feel like it constantly breaking stuff.
