Wow, just wow…

174 residents, that sounds like a really bad time.

“When I first moved out here, they wrote me a ticket for going 58 mph in my driveway,” 75-year-old retiree Albert Beebe said.

lol wtf

Sheriff’s deputies patrolled Jericho until the 1990s, when the city received grant money to start its own police force, Martin said.

You start to wonder if grant money ever does any good.

All 7 cops were in the court room for traffic court?

it does when departments buy firetrucks and ambulances. usually grant money wont be “granted” unless it’s deemed necessary, and the equipment is nothing more than needed. at least that’s how it is around these parts…for the most part

Martin declined to name the officer who shot Payne. It’s unclear if the officer has been disciplined.

protecting their own?

Prosecutor Lindsey Fairley said Thursday that he didn’t plan to file any felony charges against the officer or Payne. Fairley, reached at his home, said Payne could face a misdemeanor charge stemming from the scuffle, but that would be up to the city’s judge. He said he didn’t remember the name of the officer who fired the shot.

:picard:

JERICHO, Ark.

i think i found the root of the problem. we should have let the south secede when we had the chance.

the city can keep seven police officers on its rolls but missed payments on police and fire department vehicles and saw its last business close its doors a few weeks ago.

And I thought Hamburg was overpatrolled.

This article is seriously like something from a movie. Like what you might have found in a Gotham City newspaper had there really been one.

Um, we all just forgot the name of the guy who shot him. Sorry.

lol that would be equivalent to having around 11,000 cops patrolling in buffalo… hahahah

It’s unclear exactly what happened next, but Martin said an argument between Payne and the seven police officers who attended the hearing apparently escalated to a scuffle, ending when an officer shot Payne from behind.
Doctors in Memphis, Tenn., removed a .40-caliber bullet from Payne’s hip bone, Martin said. Another officer suffered a grazing wound to his finger from the bullet.

Surprised no one made mention to the fact they shot him in the back too!

He was probably in the middle of a Chuck Norris spinning round house kick.

Unreal… thats crazy if its true.

AND hit one of their own in the process. Police Dept. VS Fire Dept… GO!!!

I wish something like this would happen in Amherst. Without anybody getting hurt of course.

Something needs to be done about both the ridiculous amount of tickets written and the maximum fines plus the huge surcharges. And the fact that you have to pay day of court or else they yank your license.

It’s pretty sad when people add another 10 minutes onto their commute to avoid your city along with all the gas stations and convenience stores along the way.

Their lives will be hell after this. It will go beyond valdalizing the police cruisers, these guys are going to be jumped, several times.

At least, thats what should happen.

Hamburg runs 4 cars during the average weekday and 6-7 on your average weekend evening. Doesn’t seem over patrolled to me :gotme:
