First time running the R6 at LVD

I finally decided to man up and run my bike for the first time ever tonight. Not going to lie, I was nervous as hell the first time, but I gradually got better each run. My launches still aren’t great, but I’ll probably be selling her very soon so who knows if I will run it again.

I’m pretty happy with it. Now to get the Subie tuned and see what numbers she can put down.

i heard the track wasnt that great last night.

Nice runs man! Pretty close to my 07 R6’s times.

Ramair - the track was perfect last night. Went well for me anyway. Not a ton of people and good cool non-humid weather.

Yea, I thought the track was great. I never once did a burnout on the R6 (I’m too short for the bike so I have to rely 100% on the front brake to hold it back and I usually just end up making an ass of myself trying to do one… lol) and still didn’t have any traction issues. And it wasn’t too busy so we were able to get a good 5 runs in.

Nice man! Glad you had fun!

Me being a twig too, had a hard time doing burnouts also. Skidded the front wheel a bunch of times like a tard too. but then i got the fear of some flip over instantly if I clutch dump it standing there nightmare outa my head and tried it. Slipping the clutch out trying to feel it break loose is harder to do for smaller riders and all that does is preloads the suspension a bit, so if you dont have the weight or the height to get leverage on the front tire and hold it its hard to do. The preload and the geometry built into the rear suspension is fighting you, wanting to plant the rear tire, and unload the front.

Reving it a bit, and snapping the clutch out shocks the tire and doesnt give the suspension enough time to load up and try to plate itself into the ground on the back tire. Keep your ass off the seat, nuts on the tank and hang over the windscreen to plant the front tire, snap the clutch and commit to it.

Same thing i found out doing rolling burnouts. I thought for sure the first time I tried it I would grip and loop over instantly… nope, my ass is too light even sitting on the bike and didnt have to use the front brake either! lol cold tire that is, warm tire its a little grippier.

My biggest fear on that was a damn close call I had 2 summers ago. I was at the Lake George fireman parade with West Albany and I followed them back to the hotel after they took home a trophy. In the parking lot the truck came to a stop and I though I’d be the cool guy and rev it up a bit. Had the rpms up (while in gear) and my hand slipped off the clutch (it was just up the road so I had nothing for gear on… just shorts, sneakers, a tshirt, and a helmet… no gloves). As soon as it did, the bike went straight to 12 oclock and I almost looped it. That was the first time I had ever even had the front wheel off the ground (not a big fan of wheelies… no desire to do them). So yea, I’m a little hesitant of just popping the clutch at higher rpms… lol.

So Kenny, no pictures and/or videos???

My wife got 2 videos (my first run and my best run) and posted them on my facebook, but I can’t see to save them to be able to post them.
