First Z woes of the year...

So i decided it was time to change the plugs, especially since i haven’t since the swap (a lot of miles ago). I had purchased Iridiums a while ago that members of NYSpeed discouraged me from using, but several Z board members said they’re great…

Gapped them accordingly (.035) as recommended by Ash Powers (the guy that did my reflash) and tossed them in…car started and ran great…

i let it warm up, took it out, and then after puttering around for a bit i got on it…and once i hit boost, it sounded like the car just gurgled as if under water…didn’t go anywhere :tdown:

I’m gonna order new plus immediately…assuming that the iridiums are the problem…but, i was recommended to get NGK PFR6B-11B’s…and when i go to http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=22401-000026
it tells me that they are platinum tip…i thought you’re never supposed to run platinum tip plugs in a boosted car? these are the OEM plug according to the site…

ugh what to do what to do…

Most people run copper I thought?

yeah nissan reccommends platinum tipped plugs on those cars. dont know why

ur solution…sell the car and invest in something else

platnum = suck

copper = love

I would check your plug wires make sure you didn’t crack them and they are seated properly.

Copper plugs in a Z is bad news. Run the PB-11 NGKs like it says

well, it’s got coilpacks, and a new engine harness… but… was there an ignition subharness? i don’t think there was.

Oh its got the coil on plugs doesn’t it…hmmmm

Check and make sure your electrode in the coil pack is good and that your connectors to the coil packs are alright after YOU touched them.

make sure you didn’t lose one of the springs in the tip of the CP either. I seem to remember one falling out
but you have like 6 spares i think.

make sure ur coil packs are good…in general…i had one die on the maxima before i traded it in…but didnt fix

Use what Nissan suggests. Ever motor responds differently to different plugs.
I bet every guy on here that is saying run coppers can also change their plugs in about 5min. For people like us, it is not reasonable to change plugs with every oil change, and most people who I know that run coppers have to change them about that often. But to me that iridium does not seem to be the likely problem as much as it could be gap or heat range.

i have never heard of non copper plugs being good for anything boosted.

You run copper plugs???, that’s just retarded for you. N/A LS1 would have no need, and they are bitch to change.

Yes everyone runs copper plugs because they perform better…and anyways…I don’t suck at life I can change my plugs in 30-40min and this includes having a beer or three…

I keep the bling platinum for my rims y0…you should understand that…

smart people run copper, ricers run +4 platinum irridium level four stage five turbo plugs imported from japan
