All day long people say if the NGK or Bosch spark plugs are better. Which ones do you guys think are better and why?
I personally like the Bosch platinum 4’s but they can get up there in price.

It all depends on what setup you’re using them in. For boosted imports like my car, NGK Coppers are > *.
in many cars, bosch platinum +4’s fire too hot, causing predetonation Best bet to go with stockers. Upgrading your plugs for power wont do anything. Seriously, you might gain like 1/10 of a horsepower, or you might throw a code. Not worth it.

well the question is which ones are more reliable? You think for the money you spend on the the Boschs or the Platinum NGKs they would last for a long time. The most returns I get are for either Autolite or Champion.
Why would you spend the extra money on a platinum spark plug when it comes to longevity?
Why would you be concerned about longevity when so many plugs these days are designed to run 90,000+ miles.
not trying to tear ya down here, ya just need to state your question better.
I’d never run anything but copper NGK’s. Ive never seen the bosch plugs run good in any car myself. Is it really necessary for a plug to last some extreme amount of time when considering the little amount of money they cost. I change mine every oil change at least, then again i run a very cold plug to fight off detonation at 30-35psi =P
importmuscle, I hear ya, I mean the reason I ask is because the most common problems on cars that I check out are “Cylinder Misfire/ Random Misfire, etc etc”. Sometimes they will be faulted out NGK or Bosch plugs but most of the time they are Autolite or Champion. Your right that some plugs will last a very long time but then again some shit the bed after like 5k miles or sooner.
i had a bosch break off…the electrode shit thru my injector and fucked up that injector…i will never use bosch again NGK for nissans only
the bosch plugs are junk, except in a vw or something like that.
Copper ngk’s are ok but for fords motorcrafts are better.
i use ngk in everything… every turbo car i’ve ever owned has loved ngk coppers and hated pretty much everything else
platinum is A WASTE. copper copper copper NGK.
i may jump from a TR6 to a TR8 to see what its like…hmmm
my car runs like a charm on any NGK copper plug. Right now i run the NGK br7efs plugs…ran like dog crap on anything else, even motorcrafts if they were a step colder than stock.
i actually have plats…but will run fine on coppers
I’d love to read an intelligent explanation for that claim. :bloated:
I’ve never really read anything good about Bosch plugs, or anything bad about NGK’s. I searched on what plugs to run in both my current car ('01 Jetta) and last car ('93 Sentra.) Both times I came up with boatloads of claims that the cars misfired on Bosch’s and ran fine on NGK.
So yeah, +1 for NGK. Single electrode, copper.
last i checked bosch platinum +4’s were like $2 each or whatever…
i paid $11/each for my NGK’s… so STFU
edit:
and for the record…
NGK Iridium > NGK Copper > *
if your spending the money on the engine do your self the favor of going with ngk for ALL import and 2 stroke engines hands down the ngks will out perform all plugs in this catagory HOWEVER if you run american muscle and put the money in the engine go autolite the cheap ones dont go platinum or anything else. copper is your best friend for these just my $.02
Id never put anything but a copper NGK in a boosted, or sprayed vehicle. Copper is just the cats ass.
i blew out my iridiums i noobishly purchased in no time at all…
coppers have treated me well. they also treat the 1500hp turbo ls1 guys as well. ill stick with them over some fancy overprices $6 plug that doesnt last to begin with
i run ngk 9s in my turbo car
