fixing / deleating a corrupt folder in XP ?

D/documents and settings/administrator/cookies is corrupt on my computer, and every time i do something that would need the folder, i get the speach bubble in the lower corner telling me about it

its pissing me off

how do i make a new cookies folder, or fix the current one

chkdsk on startup refuses to work properly, every time i restart the computer it find a new section of the disk with errors

problems started when the computer blue screened while i used the IE tools section to clear out teh saved pages / media / files that had been building up (over 300mb deleated)

why not make a different user and use that to surf with. Why are you using the administrator account to do that anyway?

because when i added a “family” account over the summer (because noone in my family knows how to use a computer without fucking it up) all my shit wound up on the admin account

i know i could have moved everything if i wanted to, but i never bothered

Ill be swapping these 2 hd’s with 2 much larger ones sometime soon, so it doesnt matter to much anymore if shits fucked up, its just irritating as fuck to get the popup

format c: /s

any way to do it WITHOUT reformatting ?

im not reinstaling everything now, just so i can do all the same shit when i replace my drives

Just create a new user and copy everything in the my docs, desktop and favorites folders to the corresponding folders under the new user you have made. Enjoy surfing.

You may actually have a failing hard drive if you are running into those symptoms!

if chkdsk is telling you theres bad sectors, that is NOT GOOD.

Are you in the williamsville/amherst area? I can come run spinrite on the drive and tell you for sure… or, you can bring it to me… or something. But, from the sound of it, I’d be thinking about your data and getting a new drive (if it is in fact failing as I am 99% sure it is, from your description)

meh, its only a 10g drive. ill just have to get a new drive sooner instead of later

Just wait till you replace drives then, 'cause bad sectors is the beginning of the end.

using a different acount on the computer fixed othing, only slowed down the pop ups for those problems

ad now apparently the d:/$secure folder is corrupt … and i didnt even have to bluescreen the computer to do it … in fact i havent even shut the computer down since i made this thread … so shits just dieing off lil by little

oh well, all the porns been transfered, so all is well, let the ship sink, lol

yikes, sounds like your drive is on its way to telling you : “DELAYED WRITE FAILED”

only the second drive ive had die on my in 10 years, so i cant complain …

just gotta buy some stuf for the car so i can get to cutting / fabbing, then ill drop $ on drives … id have ordered them already but instead i payed off a credit card in full, lol

dead

took a shower came back to find that the computer waslocked and needed a password to log back in

uh…the guest account isnt password protected…

restarted it and i get the Intel screen (first thing that always pops up) and then i just get the black screen with the curser in the upper left … refuses to do anything more

whos got a high speed camera? time to pull the case off the drive, power it up and do a 5k FPS video of the platters getting drilled by a round from a 22 (or ak47 …w/e we can find)
