PRIVATE SECURITY FIRMS BLOW! There are more then enough people here telling you to stay away from them. If you want to work security go work for security for a company, work for a company that employs their own private security guards. In house security is the way to go.

As for actual jobs, State Police is January 19, University Police is November 17th (correct me if i’m wrong on the actual day), PA State Police is in 2008, and I would also look into Nassau and Suffolk county police. They are among the highest paid police agencies in NYS. After 3 years both agencies avg $90k base pay.

if ur a criminal justice major, most of your teachers are probably telling you if u want a police job staying in new york is gonna be a pretty hefty goal. I was hired for henrico county police in virginia but 2 weeks before i was supposed to leave they told me about 90 people failed the polygraph and or background check, i was one of 40 qualified applicants and they wanted at least 90 for the academy so me and 40 other people got shafted. They cancelled the academy and said they will call me next year but i aint waitin that long im goin to take the phoenix test in october.
