Flat out Friday this Friday (8/26) at BeaveRun.

ERIC it was great to meet you today!!! I had a great time out on the track and plan on going WAY more next season…

Thanks for a great Flat-Out day guys! Not too many wrecks, well yeah there was
but it was nice to see some sweet cars running the north track on friday!

I didn’t run, I was working Turn 7/8. I was wondering if any cars were from pittspeed
because I saw this post.

Hope to see a few more of you out at my work!

Terri it was nice meeting you too. Your Z looks great. Maybe you can make another Flat Out day before next season. Why wait?

You had a few fun moments out there for sure. Especially when the yellow Elise spun. That was a close one. Nice work out there and thanks for your effort yesterday. BTW, your car looks great. My buddies (Chevelle, red Jetta) and I were commenting on it during the lunch break.

Oh wow I didn’t know you worked out there, I drove by you about 50 times! :burnout: I had a great time…I am friends w/ Chris the instructor, he rode w/ me 4 out of the 5 sessions. Then I asked Earl Siler to ride w/ me, we got a gift certificate from him for some work my husband did for him  He’s good friends w/ Hubby’s parents. It was a great day and Iwill be back! What was up w/ the black flag for the group 1 session? I think you went out and got something off the track? Thanks for a great job as well at your point!!! That #7 is a doozie for sure…I squealed tires on that one once but held on and kept her on the pavement thank goodness! :naughty:

Thanks a lot! I saw you in the line up for the group 2 but never saw where you were parked, glad you found me and said HI! When is the next time? I didn’t see another one scheduled, if I can make it I will be there!

Oh lord, I thought the Elise was going to roll over, he kicked up so much
dirt and rocks I was pissed off. Everytime I heard tires squeal I just gritted
my teeth and prayed no one went for a spin…but it happens! Hey, thanks about the comments on my car and the work. When I pulled in after 8am and I saw 2 cars with DARE Plates I started to wonder if they were PITTSpeed lol. Your cars looked good going around Turn 7 and 8, all 3 sounded MEAN! Good job keeping it on the track, and glad you had fun!

Yeah, I’ve been working there since the end of October. Glad you had a fun time! Glad to hear you will be back! The black flag on the group 1 session - well when I was at my station and everyone started, I looked down at Turn 7-8 and noticed some decent size rocks and gravel laying on the track and the “raceline”. I didn’t want anyone to run over those and loose control or damage their cars. We as corner workers have to have a very good “eagle eye” for drivers’ safety on the track.

Yes Turn 7 is a very, very, very bad turn, most accidents occur there because you are going up 6 and are oblivious to turn 7 because it comes up very fast on you. Infact, on Weds, I worked the Trailex Tower(flagstand) on the North Track for Bike Test Day, and a guy auctally laid his bike down after Turn 6 going into 7 because he just took it too fast. Yes, I did hear you squeal the tires on turn 7, i was very thankful you did not slide off like that yellow Elise! Thank you for the comment

October 2004* i typed 2004 but it didnt show?

Also, glad you had fun jinx! I will not be back next year because I will be leaving for Arizona in October to attend UTI in Avondale.

Hence, why I want to meet up with some of you guys and cruise!

Glad everyone had fun and came back alright!

Black Attack TC - thats cool your work corners at BR. I did a SCCA race last year and a NASA race the year before. I was usually right around turn 3 or 4. Love watching Showroom Stock B cars hit turn one so fast that they just 4 wheel drift into it. That and the GT1 cars with the V8’s are always fun to watch hehe.

aahhh yes, Turn 3 and 4 are classic turns for speed bursts!
Pretty sweet you worked a SCCA and NASA events!

Im sure everyone had fun except the Yellow Elise that spun out pretty bad on Turn 7 going to 8 :ugh2:

My buddy was driving the orange Z that lost his brakes coming into 10 and slid off the track…that was it for him for the day…he was so bummed out. He has stage II brake upgrade, SS lines, slotted rotors, Dot4 fluid, but is convinced it was the Hawk HPS pads that did him in…I had no problem at all w/ my Hawks…although I just swapped pads and fluid on tuesday…

:ugh: ouch!

i’m upgrading my brakes once im out in arizona
ive been thinking about getting rotora’s

Yeah HPS arent enough even for lighter cars let alone a Z.

Getting a IT spec track pad is worth the money and will be the best improvement for the dollar. I run Cobalt friction Spec-B myself good to 1200 degrees.

Also do not get Slotted and or cross drilled rotors they will crack and not stop any better, or cool any better than blanks. Even car maker who use cross drilled rotor admit that it is just bling.

Thanks. How about my buddy (Eric) and his '70 Chevelle on the track?!?! It’s sooo much fun watching that thing out there. It’s not your typical track car yet Eric has is set up very well for track duty. The big 4 wheel Baer brakes help plus he is a great driver. Several instructors comment on his driving skills and how they love riding in the car. I would have love to seen the look on the GT3 drivers face when he had to let Eric pass.

Jinxxy I’m sure they will have at least one more open day before the season is over… maybe even two. Of course I’d like to run in the snow but that will never happen.

EricS4, what color is the Chevelle? I know of a Orangish colored one that i’ve seen autoxing a few times that sounds almost exactly like the car you described, that thing ruled if its the same car. If you really wanna see something there is a 69’ camaro thats cleaner than most show cars i’ve seen. But laps beaverun like a bat outta hell was well. Its like a dark teal color, big brakes, roll bar with some nice looking race seats, the front is like partially tubed to hold a crate motor in and also serve as mounting for a aftermarket front suspension setup.

Oh yea about the brake pads. For anyone who’s considering doing multiple lapping days. Just buy a set of race pads you’ll save yourself SOO much trouble with your car in the long run. Espically as you learn and start going faster.

Yep, his car is like a burnt orange and he’s been to a couple auto-x events at North Park. The guy with the Camaro was at BR on Friday! Eric and he were talking shop.

Chevelle pics from BR back in July.

Indeed! I run track pads in the front (Ferodo DS3000) but stay with the street pads (Hawk HPS-Plus) on the rear brakes.

a guy i know was out there last monday and blew his camaro up.

Both those cars were bad ass (Chevelle and Camaro) I thoroughly enjoyed watching them run!!! Awesome! Made all the other cars out there sound so quiet (cept that Porsche w/ the huge wing on it, the silver one? I think it is a 914???)

Thanks for the advice on the pads, guess I’ll pick up a set of racing pads for the fronts for next time!

The silver Porsche is a GT3. Them there cars are fast on the track.

EricS4, yeah that chevelle i loved. I dont think the GT3 believed me when i waved the blue flag at him hahaha. Regaurdless, it was fun watching your guys’ cars!

jinx - yeah that wing was a bit obnoxious, you can’t really call rice on that car because it’s damn fast…yet i did point the black flag at him one time because he was a bit too agressive going into turn 8 and forced a white Z to go 2 wheels off
