floor board patching...

hey guys, ok i grabbed an s14 recently, and brought it in for safety at my regular mechanic. after checking it out, needs new rotors/pads all around, passenger side inner/outer tie rod/ends, and there is a hole under the driver’s side(like under the seat)…he suggested two ways to fix this to pass safety…either he can do it from under the car, just put a sheet of metal over it i guess and weld it in…just covering it…and then coating it with oil or wutever…

the other option is from inside…taking out the seat and carpeting and patching it from there…

now…i’m guessing from the inside is th eproper way to do it…but being as i am strapped with cash lol, if he was to just patch it from the outside…would that be ok for a few months? cuz ther are a few things i still gotta do like change the transmission, buy s14 kouki front end and repaint the car…

the rest of the car is fine, the underbody is MINT other than that hole(which is kinda strange to me), the car has been undercoated n such…just that one hole…which is actually pretty big…about 20cm length…i normally WOULD bring it to a body shop to do it proper, but I need this car to pass safety and need to register it tomrorow lol…

remove the seat and carpet yourself then get it fixed properly. Shouldn’t cost too much to cut and weld in new metal.

You’ll need to remove the seat and carpet regardless.

If you weld with the seat & carpet in, you will start a fire.

Check with Draggone he did my floor for me…pretty good worker…

well alrite, yea I would like to remove the seat and carpet myself…would I have to remove all the panelling around to get the carpet without ripping it? or will it have to be ripped?
