I have a 2000 ford focus which has a problem that is common… the cylinder for the ignition breaks, over and over again. Well Mine is broken, and my car is sitting on the end of my girlfriends driveway in amherst. I would like to know if anyoen can help me get it started… or if anyone knows of a locksmith that wont charge me 100000 dollars to show up on sunday. I would kinda like my car to drive to work on monday. it’s a known issue with fords and it apparently is going to set me back about $300 :(… can anyone give me a hookup to get it fxed for less?
Either send me a a PM and I’ll give you my phone number.
THanks.
Called AAA, they got a locksmith out here and after the AAA coverage it’ll cost me 60 bux… Still not recalled because they dont need to do it because it’s not a saftey issue. Oh wellz,
i have the same year focus and i had that problem twice…drove me fucking nuts…i had a locksmith on southwestern replace a second time…the first guy put the wrong ignition in and made it worse…the place i am referring to is called lockmaster on southwestern…that dude knows his stuff…ever since he re-placed my ignition, no problems at all…
let me know how things go
pm me if u have any questions
well… Once the locksmith got done he gave me some information about what he’s done / what he has done because he changes these out a lot because it’s a very common problem on foci… Just search the net…
This guy sounded like he knew exactly what he was doing… told me that what he replaced it with is an ignition with wafers that are about 3x the size. He also said the factory ignition wears keys down like woah and the replacement wont… only problem he’s said he’s seen is worn out keys need a wiggle. This is the only and last ford I’m gunna buy… because when I get some money (I’m waiting for my first paycheck @ my job) I get to go to the dealer and have them look at the head / manifold because I’m getting stallsl while it’s cold, and what sounds like either a sticky valve or exhaust manifold… I"m getting about 18-20 MPG instead of my normal 24-30. Fookin fords.
yea thats a really common problem, i havent had it yet(knock on wood). as for your stumbling issue in the cold, its EGR related i can gauruntee it. how high is the mileage on the motor? you might also need a new PCV valve.
when you seem everything is going well on your car something else happens…
ive had alot of shit with my focus…like yesterday while driving back from rochester, the molding on the door ripped off because of the fucking hi winds
