FRANKENSTORM 2012

Surprised you guys don’t have a no return policy on generators.

Not sure why people get so worried about storms around here now.

After the October storm we lost the majority of trees around powerlines and after that the power companies cut back a shit ton.

I’m going to be super stabby with people if I get calls all day about generator return policy and bull shit excuses why you don’t need them.

PM me if you have any good open box buys…

+1

I’d be interested as well.

This shit enrages me. I hope a bunch of those asshats get shot in homeowner self defense situations.

Dumbest statement made in this thread so far. Clearly wasn’t a joke in NYC, LI, NJ, RI, CT, MD.

Second dumbest comment in this thread thus far. Just because the storm didn’t affect Buffalo that much doesn’t mean that schools in other areas didn’t have power this morning or still don’t.

At least half the people in the Rochester area and down in the southern tier had no power this morning and still may not. Our power at work just came back on a short while ago.

Also you don’t know all of the circumstances regarding the deaths so to pass judgement makes you sound foolish. I heard last night that at least one of them was from a tree falling on a house in an area of NJ that wasn’t an evacuation zone.

BUT THE WINDS WERE OUT OF THE NORTH! THE ROOTS GROW AGAINST A SOUTHWESTERLY WIND! IT’S CALLED PHOTOTROPISM! Er, no that means the branches grow towards light. IT’S HYDROTROPISM! No that’s when the roots grow towards water. IT’S! IT’S! Bullshit the weathermen made up?

Yeah… they could have waited for the morning here. Nothing has happend… never even a sign of power being loss at my house last night. I came across 1 power pole leaning over the street on the way to work, Power still on. No broken limbs from trees around on the drive in, no down trees… and the funny thing, there was a plastic bagged with foam inside ghost hanging from the porch… it made it to the middle of my lawn… not far at all

And a one night power outage is not an emergency

You want to hear about rage?

I had to fly and be in Boston Monday morning I talked with the contact a few times Sunday verifying she would be there etc because of the weather. I end up on the last flight going East from Buffalo at 6pm on Sunday night when I land get an email saying she won’t make it but here is an alternative person to meet up with.

Go on site Monday morning work for a few hours then Boston announces public transit is shutting down and possibly the turnpike which forces the office im at to close at noon.

Got to make the fun drive from Boston -> Buffalo but like I mentioned in an earlier post made great time.

I love Chris Christie.

+1. I was sure he was going to do the facepalm when talking about that idiot Atlantic City mayor last night. Right when he was talking about the city shelter that was a block from the bay and was now under water. He kept looking down and shaking his head in disgust and I was just hoping for that palm to come up.

WNYers have pretty short memories. They were ready to lynch the weathermen after the Oct storm because they didn’t get enough warning to prepare, and now when ever the weathermen do warn people and we get lucky with a less intense storm people are still pissed.

Having a bunch of people get prepared and then have the area get lucky and never got the predicted winds is far better than downplaying it hoping we get spared only to have people in serious trouble when we do get hit. This weather prediction stuff isn’t an exact science. They try to predict worse case so people can prepare and then hope for the best. The problem is people see a forecast of 1.25 to 2.5" of rain, only really think about the 2.5, and if we get 1.3" scream that the weathermen were wrong.

The mayor was on the Today Show and said “I never said not to evacuate” haha.

I would love for Chris Christie to run for President, however something tells me that a fat politician from NJ has a few skeletons in his closet that would bury him.

I love the video where the teacher during the town hall meeting complains about teacher’s pay. “Then don’t teach. You knew what you would be paid when you went to school to become one”.

Couldn’t agree more, hearing people complain because we didn’t get hit has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard in a long time.

I think its funny that people are complaining and the worst hasn’t even hit us yet. The storm center is barreling straight for us and tomorrowe should be interesting for sure. I didn’t buy a generator and so far I’m good, but tonight/tomorrow will be the true test I think.

“It’s what I asked for, but not what I wanted”

People will complain no matter what. Then people will complain about the complaining. cough

And then people will complain about the people complaining about complaining. BWAAAAAAAAAAA

Worst is still to come? What are you talking about? All the advisories have been lifted for wind… only issues are possible flooding of low level areas. Not sure how this will be worse than what already came through.
