FRANKENSTORM 2012

Looking forward to see who burns their house down next week wiring in a generator to their house wiring.

Back feeding is SUPER not safe.

Get a 6 phase control panel for $290 on call it a day.

I have reliance manual transfer switches that I will sell at my cost if anyone needs. And back feeding a breaker is super safe if you are not an asshole about it.

This storm will be a huge bust. Luckily I will be in Daytona while all of this is going on.

Yep, I was glad to fly into Midway and not O’hare. Not an issue at all with southwest. If I can transfer my points to you I will.

I’ll have a semi truck on monday of portables.

Diesel?

It’s gonna rain here in Buffalo. I’m so scurrrred

Just a heads up for those in WNY. The strongest winds are going to be out of the NE when this thing comes through here, which is exactly opposite of our prevailing winds. Why does that matter? Trees grow their roots to protect against prevailing wind loads, so when the wind comes out of the opposite direction the trees are not nearly as well protected and tend to uproot far more often. Add in that a lot of trees still have leaves and there is a good chance WNY will see some power outages.

I’m not expecting too many issues here but I spent about 30 minutes just going over my basic prep. Gutters are clear and working, generator is ready, have an extra 6 gallons of gas, fresh batteries in flashlights, found my backup sump pump and took a walk around my yard making sure anything that could get blown around was secured.

The biggest issue I expect here is dealing with the sump pump if power goes out. The ground is already 100% saturated from the rains that went through since Friday so when these storm rains arrive in full force tomorrow the water is going to start to pool. I’ll be RDP’d into my computer from work as a first alert to know if the power goes out at home. If so I’ll just run home and fire up the generator. My sump takes at least an hour to reach the top even in a massive rain. Not nearly as bad as a friends place where he gets about 5 minutes during a heavy rain before his sump pit overflows.

In all the recent rain my new drainage system has worked perfect. Hopefully this is a real test and I will know if I have corrected all drainage and basement water issues. Fingers crossed.

Negative, shitty Chinese Westinghouse units…

Was just at Sears on Transit getting a saw blade and in the 5 minutes I was standing in line they took 2 calls looking for generators (which they are sold out of).

Oh boy we’re fucked!

^^as you can see my giant glowing red boner is passing through ohio

I am so glad I’m not working this weekend, nor tomorrow. I get to miss all the stupid phone calls for generators and people freaking the fuck out.

Lol I was at TSC yesterday and people kept asking about generators… now I know why ;p

Watch out WNY…it might rain and get windy…GET A GENERATOR NOOWOOOWOWOWOOWWWW!!!111

The companies that build/sell generators are paying the weather service to make this up to increase sales.
True story.

Get your noise and fume generators ready…
