I don’t know how. I mean, everyone else slowed down, nobody else collided with any other cars around us. My best guess is that the other driver was just not paying attention at all, has horrible reflexes, or some combination.

I looked up at my mirror after I knew I was safe not to hit the cars in front of me (like I always do) but what I saw was different than normal. Not a car with the front end dipping and slowing down, but a projectile with no chance of stopping in time.

I still had about 15 hours of driving ahead of me after that ordeal. I’ll be honest, the next few times (in the POS HHR) when traffic jammed up and everyone slowed down…it was really unnerving. That impact has a way of making you more fearful of stuff that used to be really normal.

heh, thats exactly what happened to my in the Prelude. Traffic stopped suddenly and as soon as I got stopped I looked up in the rear view and saw F-250 grille coming at me with what in a split second became obvious to me was no intention of stopping or slowing down. It took me at least a year to get over stopping short and instantly looking to the rear view and having your heart drop if you even saw there was a car in close proximity.
