Here you have it, the magic link. By following this link and selecting “start now” you can complete & e-file your federal return free of charge (for those that qualify). Select your tax preparation site of choice and off you go.

The one I used (so I’m assuming all of them do this) keeps asking if you want to “upgrade” to the deluxe version. DON’T DO IT (if it can be avoided). It’s not free if you use the deluxe version. There are some deductions and features that will require you to upgrade…

I didn’t have to pay to e-file federal last year when I did mine online. Just state for like $25. I took mine to H&R this year since I’ve never been… that’ll never happen again. $100 later. :rant:
