I know NOTHING about these cars-what kind of maintenance nightmare is he getting himself into? Here is what he knows…
“Its got 190xxx on the body, 90% of the suspension is new, timing belt and water pump were recently done, body is solid. Looks like a brand new car”

EEK, im not sure i’d even consider a used vehicle with damn new 200k on it
And which engine and transmission. Not sure I would get near an auto with that sort of milage. Of course price matters a whole lot too.
Only relevant question that needs to be addressed in regards to said vehicle.
Fuck yeh pick it up. If not send it my way.

seems like they usually go for more than that even with those miles so Im thinking something is fucked up with it
Pick it up. If it breaks quick part it out and make more than you paid for it.
Im the one pickin up the car. Its 800 bucks and needs a coil pack. Tested it and its shot. I also have a motor and transmission i am buying from a good friend that has 92,000 on the pair for 500. I beleive its a good price and i think it will be fine but any input will be honestly appreciated
IIRC, 99 is the year they came out with the 2.7 turbo motor for the A6… IMO The 2.8 is way more reliable, but which does the car your buying have?
Regaurdless its a freakin awesome deal, but if its the 2.7, plan on dumping a ton of loot into it.
just my $0.02
So wait it has a bad coil on the motor in it and your also buying another motor and tranny for it? Im confused
Guessing he is either swapping both out because of the high mileage of the stock motor and tranny or is going to buy both as a back up for when his shit does blow.

Dont be confused the 2.8 has its far share of problems also. I just got a 2001 Passat with the 2.8 and it is an oil leak nightmare. That 2.8 was always known as a leaky motor, mainly from the top end.
Audi’s suck. except mine.
Yea im gettin the other motor and trans in case it does shit the bed. Just for the fact that its a good deal for the pair
The audi has the 2.8 in it.

I know the a4’s had control arm issues. Do the a6’s have these type of issues also?
