Definitions:
Protocol: Your method of attempting to lie, with a straight face, to an official who has about 10-15x the experience than you do in this field.
PID: Presume the Inspector is a Dipshit
PCM id’s: These are the little faeries in an engine control unit who fly out and tap the NYS official on the shoulder whenever the dipshit inspector tries to plug a different car in than the one you’re “inspecting”. Bastards are invisible, and damn tough to catch.
So wait Pauly can you inspect my car for me?
they tried to do what exactly ?
nice jason (you forgot about the part of also being the guy that had a fair part in designing and implementing the system)
Sherm bring it on down i got a hyundai that probally has the same vin, Com Protocol, and pid counts- it should work just fine
Pauly, need a beer?
it’s beyond that… shot and a beer time.
Why are autozone and pepboys now telling people they can only read and not reset CEL’s
that is such BS… its not illegal to reset a CEL becaust it resets the readyness state of the entire ECU…
I went to autozone and they said its illegal for them to do it, but i was just like well so your telling me you cant, but i can buy a scan tool from you and DIY…
morons
lol
why buy it? loan it out on your cc clear it in the lot and return it… bamo
This pep boys autozone thing gets sticky. Legally they cannot diagnosis cars without being a registered repair shop. All they can do is tell you what code is stored in the pcm. I assume that not clearing it makes them feel they are not doing a repair. The whole reading codes things has been in and out of legal dept’s for some time. If you ever need a code read i’m happy to help.
If you’ve ever attended a diagnosis training program the first thing they tell you is never to clear a code. If you’ve fixxed the problem the light will reset itself after the next drive cycle.
ummm more than one buddy its been a long long week
After I get back this weekend, I’ll need some too.
Some gocarting then beer drinking.
Go relax and finish closing your pool ![]()
