You pretty much can’t register this here.

This has been said a million times.

  1. you can’t register an R32 or R34 in the states if you’re an American citizen, period.
  2. you CAN register an R33 if you go through a PROPRIETARY crash protection process, but the proprieter is no longer in business.
  3. Tweety is a British national, and as such is able to reg his R32 here…

I <3 tweety.

just a question, would he be able to register it here, and then transfer everything over? or would that not work

So myself, being a Canadian Citizen, would be able to register the car?

Considering he doesn’t have residency here, I would think not.

If you have dual citizenship (and i think if you own property) you could reg the car in canada and drive it here on canadian plates. Breetime’s dad was doing this with a smart car before they were US legal.

Good to know. That is if I ever want to buy an international car. I bet insurance is fucking stupid expensive though.

I was looking into getting an R32 GTR for a winter car through some loopholes, but liability was 4000 a year.

one of my landscaping customers has dual citizenship and lives in one house up there for the summer and then one house down here for the winter.

maybe I can talk an 75 year old man into registering a skyline that I will be driving all the time.

or i’ll just wait till i’m 28.

regardless you can import the car as a track/show car i beleive

Yeah, you can bring it in without much hassle. but registering it is not an option… unless you take the risk and VIN swap it…

WTF

insurance in canada is INSANE. ask bing.

The exchange rate was extremely favorable, I looked into the same. A couple years back you could get ones that needed alittle work for around $8k USD. Would’ve been hilarious. Plus there are various ways to register them in Ontario without being a citizen and they have privatized insurance my state farm agent advised me that they would cover me, but not to have an accident so we wouldnt have to deal with a hassle.

God I really don’t understand why they make cars like this impossible to own here.

It’s your own damn risk if you drive the car and get into an accident.

eh, because if they let cars like this in that don’t meet the US crash regs, then you get garbage Chinese cars that disintegrate on impact…

Also, in America… NOTHING IS YOUR FAULT, and don’t you forget it.
