Tons of custom stuff, all professionally done $22000 in parts
I built my old 240 with 5 grand, and I had easy twice as many goodies as you have listed. If you had so much custom work done, it might be wise to either mention what was done, if not also provide pictures to prove it. Do you have any documentation as to what was done, when it was done, where it was done, with what parts it was done with, and how much it cost?
Rust free USA rolling shell $4000
Silva parts $3000
IC, bypass valve, silicone hose $460
Intake $200 USD+shp
Pop charger $100 USD+shp
Koyo aluminum SR20 Radiator $550
Automatic Electric fan
Genesis Battery
Knockoff header and O2 housing
Custom exhaust $1000 for all exhaust related stuff)
Genuine B+M shifter
Spec clutch (stage 3 …if I recall … sintered disk type)
will be replaced as it is annoying to drive in the city. Car is in storage with about 20
customer cars between it and the door.
Toda flywheel $650
ACPT Carbon drive shaft $1200
VLSD $300 (US car … remember)
Everywhere that does not have a D2 control arm has graphite bushings
D2 coilovers, upper rear, rear toe, front radius link $1500 USD (I am a D2 dealer)
damper cartridges are new
rear sub frame locks $ … so cheap I don’t remember
Autometer OP and boost gauges $100 ? … $150 ?? don’t remember
Racing Hart wheels $800
Tires $400 USD+shp
255lph pump
greddy oil pan
Custom stuff:
modified floor pan and cross member DS to lower seat 2 inches
custom IC mounting and piping (took 3 feet out of the typical bolt-on crap)
this also moved CG back and is more protected
custom exhaust 2.5 inch, mandrel bends, dual Magnaflows
(makes more torque, more power and sounds better than the 3 inch)
I still have much of the 3 inch system I built if you really feel you need that.
custom so that it does not hang down 4 feet under the car.
removed 20 pounds of superfluous wiring from the car
wired so that any SR20 harness plugs directly into the car harness
AC 100% removed
time spent making “bolt on” parts fit ……
modify throttle pedal so that stock 240sx cable works with SR
modify shifter to bring closer to driver
eliminate passive seatbelts
weight reduction
air intake baffle
relay headlights for lower resistance
custom IC ducting (not piping)
mounting gauges
mounting boost control
I am not going to list all the other little crap that I did that I consider maintenance like:
ti-rod ends, steering rack servo, oil changes and such that other people list as if it is something special. I have been professionally building Nissans faster than most people since they were Datsuns so all the little stuff is just assumed.
And, to preempt any of the obvious doorknobs saying “I can get that cheaper.” Prices not marked as “USD+shp” are in CDN and include shipping (currency converted at time of purchase (2 yrs ago). Stuff without prices I can’t remember (or was stuff I already owned and is most likely not included in total $ in that case)
OK fair enough my $500 Fitipaldi steering wheel is not going with the car nor are my Sparco seats (which are not in the pictures anyway) so there is $2500 no longer in the parts list.
Also not in the total are, brand new 300TT front brakes (installed on car), new Tokico blues with Tien springs (currently on car), 4 pairs of springs for the D2’s (different rates)
These are the interior shots that the appraiser took … The car was in prosess but I wanted to get the appraisal under way. He was there doing a customer car that day so it was a spur of the moment thing so the 240 is really dirty … and these seats went in the garbage as they were so crappy.
Also … the day I got the car:
And one very early in the build. The front end was painted to code but the car was painted with some sort of pearl coat at some point in its life so they don’t match.
How much does a running car go for here? A decent one is still 6K. Nice ones go for $8500 (confirmed by a friends sale last week) I was planning to do the swap so why mess buy a miled out POS that I had to pull the motor and tranny out of anyway. The car was located locally (a 7 minute trip from work) so I did not have to travel too look at it and then ship it back.
So:
$1000 USD for a car
Flight there and back $1000
Shipping a car these days $1000
RIV, GST, duty brokerage meals and rental car time off of work @ 300 a day
We could go with driving down and trailering back to save the flight and shipping but we will add a ton of fuel cost and more time off work. We won’t even factor in things like wear and tear on the tow vehicle and trailer.
And this assumes that the first car you look at doesn’t suck and therefore no repeat trips or travel to another region.
I am new here … some could someone tell me … Does topgunn always talk without thinking?
Well i think its a sweet car man, Very clean and well thought out. Custom stuff is always hard to price out because you have to think what your time is worth to you.
If some people here were to price out their cars or get them appraised they would be in the same boat as you.
Hope you get a decent price for it, it looks like it would be a fun car.
Topgunn, is one of my friends. He is VERY smart when it comes to cars ESPECIALLY 240’s.
I suggest you do your research before you post something like that :finga:
