this is exactly why i said what i said. how much do these things go for up there bing? probably less than $37k.
so i don’t see why the price wouldn’t drop on these here as soon as they are 25 years old.

I don’t think I could shift with my left hand. Masturbate, maybe. But not shift.
If importing and registering a Skyline or any type vehicle was that easy and cost effective, more people would do it.
This is a hell of a vehicle.
The thousands of Skylines in Canada are mostly R32s, includes non-GTRs and cars with higher mileage.
Here is an R33 RightDrive is selling for $27k (don’t forget to add 13% CAN tax) with three times more miles on it, terrible bumper & wheels and less options than the one in this thread: http://www.rightdrive.ca/inventory_cars/view/334
Now add 8 years of driving, modding, etc. to this Canadian R33. Is anyone even going to want it in the US?
The car in this thread is nearly brand-new. Finding one in this condition in Japan is hard enough. It’s only going to attract a specific kind of buyer, but we’re already discussed that.
We’ll bump this thread in 8 years
Onyx that car you linked looks horrid. Rode hard, put away wet and dirty for sure.
When compared to this one, it looks like a steal at the price point.
Ok, I get it. I honestly never looked into what these cars cost here or in Canada.
My point was, these cars hitting their 25 year mark and being easier (legal) to import won’t make them cost more. Part of their high cost now is the fact that it is hard to get them imported legally so the car doesn’t get confiscated.
I’m done shitting up this thread. Awesome car, Glws.
Nah, you’re not shitting on the thread. Everything we’re talking about is relevant.
I too look forward to the 25 year rule, but for other cars, not so much for a Skyline (which I’ll likely never own), but other JDM cars for sure.
I think the 25 year rule will make prices go up.
Supply and demand. Importing them won’t be any chraper, still have to get them shipped here, unless coming from Canada. And like already stated it is very expensive to keep an old car on the road in Japan, so I’m sure the numbers of these cars available are slowly decreasing. The 25 year rule is no secret either, so figure if someone is looking to sell they will be demanding top dollar because there is people who will pay.
Not to mention that the ones already in America = no more red tape. So price will probably go up because there is no shipping or RI’s to deal with. The car is already here, no hunting waiting. Not to mention no more risk of seizure, just look at the price difference between a legal motorex car and a gray market car, like 20k difference. I’m sure there are tons of people who can afford these cars but don’t want to take a 40k gamble. I bet they would be more than happy to shell our cash if there is no risk involved.
Idk, makes sense to me.
I’d really like to get the car sold locally so it can stay in buffalo. I am willing to negotiate to get the car moved.
P.S. Josh ur the man! remind me to touch you next time I see you in ur booth at the mall.
damn - heavy price drop is right… ill straight up trade you for my 08 civic si
That’s quite a price drop… Now I’m a little interested…
you were talking about this before dude… snag this. you can drive it all year round
26.5k sounds about right
are you offering me 26.5k for it???
Do it.
Probably wont have a problem at the border. I sold my 92 RHD Del sol sir to a kid in AZ, he flew here and drove it up to Canada to get to Detroit, he got over the border with a California plate that had nothing to do with my car I sold him. they just frigging laughed at him when he pulled up on the wrong side and went on through. Then he also made it into Detroit with no problem. Maybe it was just luck but when I would take it over the border to Clifton hill cruise nights I never had a problem.
Also I had mine registered and insured in NYS. i bought it out of California, shipped it here and took it to the DMV on Ogden to have it issued a VIN, they gave me a sticker and I registered it that day. Took two years to get the title though, I actually sold it with out the title. The day after i sold it I got the title out of the blue, wasn’t even expecting it. i wish I would of had it when I was selling it because I could have sold it for a little more. I miss that damn car.
That’s the one thing I’d never do with this car. Unlike your Del Sol, Canadians have been trying to export Skylines to the US relatively frequently… and they’ve been seized just as frequently. They (customs) are aware of these cars and looking for them.
A RHD car that was sold in LHD form in the US is different than a car that was never sold (or crash tested) here at all.
alright guys she’s still for sale I’m accepting offers.
