FS: 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec - US Registered/Titled - $37500 (Buffalo)

I dunno - The price seems fine to me. Hell even before the price drop. Have you guys seen what people pay for Supras? It’s ridiculous. This is a Skyline… something that was not sold in the USA - and it only has 11,000 miles. Granted the steering wheel is on the wrong side, but still. EBay might be your best bet - if you can do it without drawing attention and getting in trouble with the Govt. GLWS - love these cars.

Not very well versed in all of this but I would assume that since the car is already here it doesn’t matter in 2020 because it’s already been imported. I believe cars must be imported AFTER the 25 year mark. You can’t import a car twice.

To the op, Glws this car is beautiful

I think some people are getting confused between importing a car and making it comply to federal (NHTSA) standards.

Sentences like this in reference to the same vehicle don’t help, lol.

You can import almost anything and get a title & VIN for it with your state DMV. However that doesn’t mean it’s in compliance with NHTSA and could be seized by the feds.

that fact that briankent types in full sentences with reasonable use of the enter key is proof enough for me that this car is legit.

then you have the fact that he hasnt exploded on people in this thread and i can totally see paying a 20% premium based off that alone.

While briankent seems like a good guy and a nice addition to nyspeed, anyone even considering this without seeing the proper paperwork from a federally approved RI is taking a real gamble.

LOL I like to type in caps.

And JayS I understand what you are saying and I am trying my best to get some of the paperwork from the previous owner about the Registered importer in florida who brought the car in and aided him in titling it up here in NYS. Obviously the paperwork will not include a bond release.

I would like to add that I agree that Briankent is a valuable poster, and it seems like he’s definitely trying to do his best to help everyone understand the car’s history and the legalities of ownership.

 glws, car looks beautiful. I bet that once 2020 comes around, the car will be quite valuable due to the lack of concern over the import logistics.

I want this so bad…if only I wasn’t on the other side of the country.

free bump (not that it’s needed)

awesome! ill trade my evo 8 for it!!!

come here and get it

I actually think that would cause the value to decrease dramatically. The reason that it has such a high value now is that it is fairly rare to have it imported legally.

Once they can be imported legally with lower costs and less red tape, they will be way less expensive.

That said, Glws. Beautiful car.

Not necessarily.

These are old cars and it’s getting much harder to find clean examples in Japan. 8 years from now who knows if you’ll even be able to find one in this kind of shape for a reasonable price.

Speaking of price, you need to factor in all the costs associated with the importation process and sourcing a vehicle in Japan. Adam has a good breakdown of what he charges here: http://www.feastautoexport.com/services

It’s also important to point out that in Japan people don’t buy cars and hold on to them like we do in the US. Japan has laws that make it more expensive to own cars that are over 3 years old and these costs only increase with age. So there is an incentive to sell cars as soon as they have some age on them to the point that people pay junkyards to take their cars, lol.

I don’t think that in 8 years you’ll be able to buy a car like this one in this condition for dramatically less than what he’s asking.

Also, it’s not as if they were ever overly abundant in Japan either. They are still a pretty rare car. It’s not like a JDM civic, where they are abundant overseas. This car will continue to be very valuable for quite some time. At least in my eyes it will be. If not, I look forward to purchasing one on Jan 1, 2020.

Actually Civics are more rare than you’d think. I was in Japan for a week and only spotted 4 of them and we were driving everywhere. (My Japan thread: http://www.nyspeed.com/content.php?26-Onyx-In-Tokyo-Japan-w-FEAST-JAPAN-130-Pictures-Video )

Honda is actually the #3 manufacturer in Japan behind Nissan and Toyota.

So even the Japanese know that Civic’s suck.

lol…didn’t know that… Either way, I doubt that Skylines are going to be suddenly imported by the boatload in 2020.

I’m serious when I say that I will strongly consider purchasing one.

I can’t wait til 2020. I think 2014 or 2015 I may have to get myself an R32.

keep in mind as well that Canada has the 15 year rule so we’re plucking all the clean GTRs for 10 years before you guys get the chance. I suspect that the UK, Germany, China, Russia and other markets have similar rules that give them the headstart on the US as well.

by the time you guys have a chance to import freely you’ll be picking from a crop that has been picked over already.

*edit… however, i suppose that also means you can look to Canada to import skylines and save on the shipping etc. It would be much easier to bring them in from Canada logistically speaking. Also, they do not hold their value well up here so it may also be cheaper to buy / inspect etc.

There are thousands of skylines in Ontario so you could drive up and inspect them rather than relying on pictures from Japan.

If you got the money, buy now in Canada and play 10 years later here. lol

Naw, it means we let you guys do the hard work of shipping them to North America then we drive them home.
