Very Valid points! Thank you for the support! Dick pics coming soon.
it would appear everyone who is contesting the legality of my car loves quoting this article.
I read this before I purchased the vehicle and am still confident in my purchase.
Definitely a good read.

lol, I like this guy
I used Can Am to import my '97 ITR, they did a great, hassle-free job.
I wouldn’t buy this Skyline… The OP has had sex in it wayyyy to many times (with fat chicks).
GLWS
who was the Registered Importer?
I am currently working on retrieving the Registered Importer information from the previous owner of the car. It is confirmed that the registered Importer was a gentlemen who does this regularly down in Florida. I will hopefully have all this info for you guys soon.
In light of recent facts and since the car is not Federally legal and is not bond released I think it is only fair to significantly drop the price.
I do need the money for my business and need to move the car.
I will have Josh lower the price to $37,500 obo in the title.
Please PM me if you are interested.
got the title updated for you. that is a crazy price drop…
i hate R33’s but this is a REALLY nice example.
also not bothered by the nay-sayers. being 100% compliant with everything is so boring.
crazy price drop!!! test drives? jk, GLWS
naked test drives with Ian kley only sorry
I had no idea these cars was so light. That is fantastic…
this is less than 1 Beck now… it’s like .8 Becks or something.
Did the price drop on this thing 22k in a days time?
in a thread for a R32 for sale in zilvia. “I called the U.S. department of transportation, ICE, and EPA before picking up my Motorex R32 a few months ago. Each one of them gave me the thumbs up and said the vehicle was under no threat for seizure.”
if this had a bond release i wouldn’t worry. it doesn’t, so maybe you can a little bit. You can CALL to find out.
and i believe the cars being seized were titled illegally, or REGISTERED in the state but NOT titled. You can do this in a lot of other states. Which is annoying trying to buy cars out-of0state that don’t require a title. it isn’t a problem with those cars since they aren’t questioned regularly for legality.
edit: i see you posted it on zilvia lol, i also see that no-one cared once the price drop because of what the car is WORTH
edit2: there is a r33 gtr vspec right under your’s with triple the miles almost stock going for 25k and it is untitled and unregistered and no one is complaining
edit3: here is the post of the P.O for the other r33. Looks like this is all taken care of already for this car.
Here is the story of the car’s legality and its outlook on registration:
The car was contracted for importation by a company by the name of Fuel Imports out of Florida. The contract from the importing company to the client specifically stated that the car would come imported with full, federal legalization. The contract mentions that the car would have a reassigned US VIN number, and come with a complete DOT bond release stating that it complied with all federal safety standards. From there, the car would have been a piece of cake to title, just like any other car one might buy from an everyday dealer.
However, this never happened. The importing company did not not fulfill these guidelines, and the car came imported without these documents.
The documents that I do have for the car are extensive, although. I have the full contract from Fuel Imports to the client stating the car was supposed to be fully legal, a sales receipt from the original importing client to the importing company for over $30,000, and all shipping information and documentation. With this being said, the car has proof that it was legally imported through a registered source, but just wasn’t fully compliant with the contract that stated it would come over fully road ready. From there, I have the notarized bill of sales from the original importing client, to another SF member, and then finally to myself. I can take pictures of all the documentation that I have for the car and send it to interested parties per request. The car was imported with less than 1000 km’s from what it reads now give or take a few, so rest assured that although the car has had a few owners since its importing, it has not been beaten whatsoever. It has simply seen a few shows and dealer plate cruises, no races, auto x’s, etc.
From this point forward, and from what I have heard, I am fairly sure the car could be imported without too much trouble. I have been acquiring information about getting it fully registered here in Montana lately. From the DMV’s that I have talked to - it seems like there are only a few things that I must do before it can be registered. I have been talking to a smaller town DMV here near myself that I explained that the car hasn’t been registered and is not in the systems anymore. They assure me that this is alright, they just need a few things done before they can issue a title. The small town DMV that I have talked to said that I must get a VIN inspection by any law official to ensure that the car does not come up with any stolen vehicle reports. Obviously, since the car has never been stolen and has never even been registered, the inspection will come back clear. From here, since we have no emissions/safety testing in Montana (not sure about your area - if you do, the car does have the factory cats still installed, which the catback is bolted to - very, very mild sound - not loud at all), so the process pretty much ends there and a title can be issued.
The only thing that is left to do is insure the car at this point, which should be pretty straightforward through progressive or another local insurance office. I actually traded my JDM Supra for the R33 pretty recently, which had the JDM 12 digit VIN much like the Skyline, and my insurance agency was able to do what they needed to in order to insure the Supra. So as long as you can show a valid title for the car, the insurance company should be able to accommodate the car in their systems as an “other” Nissan make, and fill in the empty digits for the VIN on the insurance card.
I know this sounds a bit overwhelming, but I am always willing to help with the process and have owned and driven a legal JDM car before without any trouble for several years, so I know the car can be driven and enjoyed on the streets if the buyer so desires. It will just take a bit of work. However, I will be honest in saying that the buyer of the car will assume full responsibility for actually getting the car titled. I can help, and plenty of other people have done it successfully, but of course I cannot guarantee anything. Please do not turn my thread into a federal vs state legality debate. Also, please do not flame my thread with any opinions regarding the legal aspects of driving, owning, or registering skylines- anyone who is interested in buying the car is already fully aware of these stipulations.
My personal recommendation would be to use the car for off road purposes only. This was my initial intention with the car, and I have only looked into the registration aspects out of curiosity. The price is good enough to warrant spending on a track toy in my opinion. And from the driving that I have done with it, the car would be an absolute beast on the track. Drag, autocross, circuit racing- the car feels versatile enough to excel at any of these motorsports.
On a side note, the Skyline actually has maintenance records from a Japanese dealership for up to just shy of 100K KM’s - so rest assured that the car has been maintained well through the entirety of its lifetime. It’s impossible to decipher exactly what the documentations entail as far as work is concerned, but the KM’s are marked and it is clear that the car has been up kept well. Also, the timing belt was changed just shy of 70K KM’s as well - this is indicated with a sticker as well as in the paperwork.
Yea I saw that car a while back for sale. He just dropped his price to $21,000.
Wow never saw a price drop like that before
so its not US legal like you implied?
i think it’s the exact oppostite.
Deebo’s post is with reference to another car, not this one.
Newman should buy this because he’s not a pussy and because this car is now like 0.5 Becks
OP I’ll give you my EVO+5k. No offence, awesome car and all but a high asking price even after the last drop. These are always popping up for sale around the country for quite a bit less than your asking. I’ve seen SO MANY R33’s in the states totally legal this one’s been here in NY for 6 years without a problem I’m sure it’s fine. If it was a threat and could be seized, I’m sure it would have happened already. Like the poster said, you might run into problems if you take it to the border and from then on might have a red flag but if you stay in the states and somewhat low key there’s probably nothing to worry about.
Even if this car was at risk of being seized, as long as it was kept in the states and “low key” as stated before I’m sure it would be fine. Once the car makes it to the year 2020 it would be in the clear because of the 25+ year old rules as far as imported cars goes. I feel like the price is a bit high but either way GLWS the cars is clean.
