As far as importing skylines go there is more than just Motorex who had the right to import and validate them. You don’t hear about them because they didn’t make a big business out of it like Motorex did. There is a company in Maryland who can import and certify and has. The blue r33 I have worked on for years went through this process when it was imported and is legal. It was issued a VIN and has a title just like Brians.
I have driven it to Toronto many times with 0 hassle at the border and without the owner. The only issue that would arise would be if you try to sell it to someone in CA.
I’m curious what bank finances a 17 yr old car? Not being a dick or anything, just curious. I’m pretty sure if I walked into my local m&t branch an said I wanted a loan for a 17 yr old Nissan, they would lol. Just curious, that’s all.
Nicest question this thread just far. I don’t know if you can see it on the attached titled picture but I went to Summit federal credit union and they set be up with a 5.85% apr on it. They are the best!

What summer toy? and I’m curious what is your right price lol? thanks!
My understanding, at least based on personally researching an older car valued higher than KBB with my CU, is that a private appraiser needs to value the car. With proper valuation, the bank or CU will gladly issue the loan.
Picked up a Porsche in the Fall. I’m not sure what price is appropriate since they are simultaneously rare and also nowhere near the performance spec of the R35 GTR which can now be had in the lower 60’s. Either way, I definitely prefer the looks of your car.
Chances are the lien isn’t registered as an Auto, but rather a personal loan with the car being collateral. Most credit unions will go by NADA values and I guarantee a 95 Skyline isn’t in them. Or it’s appraised and they go off that, but most likely…it’s the former.

especially since the car doesn’t exist on KBB the bank required a proper appraisal.
Welcome to trying to sell things on nyspeed. You’re better off selling this on a real car forum.
70,000$ R34s have sold on zilvia. And this is a legal car, getting questioned by people who have no interest in buying it.
You can register these cars in certain states without a title and still get insurance etc.
lol, but seriously the questions people are asking are legit. This is a VERY clean example of a car that is rare in the US (has a dash that I’ve never seen before but that looks amazing and there should be pics posted) and a car that’s quite controversial. And given the price people are going to want more information.
I don’t know if this car is “legit” in the eyes of the NHTSA, but does it really matter? There are quite a few grey market cars that have been floating around for years. They’re all over downstate, just ask Adam (Feast Japan) who has a business shipping them to NJ. The white one we drove on my Tokyo trip is somewhere state side right now, post MOTOREX. Like Carnut said there are other importers out there who can get these cars VINs and titles… but they don’t comply with NHTSA. That doesn’t stop people from driving them.
The NYS DMV and NHTSA have a passive relationship and unless you’re “above the radar” you’re not going to catch flack. Some people are just fine owning a vehicle on these terms just like some are fine modding their cars with “illegal” modifications.
Someone already went thought the trouble of getting a NYS title, appraisal and proper insurance for this car (Although again this means nothing in the eyes of NHTSA.)
Ultimately there are a handful of people who would have the money and interest in owning a car like this. And despite what Deebo thinks I know a few of those people have been made aware of this car though this post. I’m sure it’s going to sell regardless of its NHTSA certification.
