FS: 1998 WRB Subaru GC Coupe - STi Ver8 Swap

Well, I believe it is time.

I haven’t owned this car very long - I guess probably about 7-8 weeks now.

I really really love this car, I have a few reasons to sell it… the main one being that I don’t think I should be driving a car worth this much money in my current position.

I’m asking what I paid for this car, I have since added/fixed/changed a few things.

That price is $19,000 firm. Before you lose it based on that price, please take the time to read the mods list. This car has been in the scene for a little while now and those who are familiar with the car and it’s quality and especially those who have had the chance to me intimate with it (work on it, drive it, ride in it) will undoubtedly back me up when I say that this is what the car is worth. It may even be too little all things considered.

The car itself is in really good condition - there are a few spots on the exterior that are starting to rust. Most notable is the driver side A-pillar and the passenger side rear fender where it meets the bumper. There is also paint chipping on the front bumper on the drivers side, there is no damage to the actual bumper the paint is just starting to separate from the urethane bumper.

The underbody of the car is basically perfect and it is a pleasure to work on this car - nuts and bolts crack loose with little effort.

Pictures of the car can be found below - please read the mods/parts list carefully as some things have been changed since certain photos were taken… namely the Gold Gram Lights shown are not included with the car.

Here is the original FS post by Hue_B, the gentleman who put all of the time and money in to having this car built: http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103433

The swap was done by Can Jam Motorsports. This should already help put the asking price in to perspective. I have the original invoice from Can Jam when the swap was done - I’m not going to post details here but I will say that it is in the ballpark of what I’m asking for the car - just for the motor/drivetrain swap

Here we go:

Engine:
· JDM STi Version 8 engine
· JDM STi Version 8 ecu
· VF30 Turbo
· HKS Turbo Back Exhaust w/ hi-flow cat w/ resonator
· STi axle back (I have the 3" HKS Muffler that will be included with the sale)
Note: The car is extremely quiet and very very fast. The motor runs and idles like a dream and there is not a single problem that I’ve experienced with this car motor wise. It is truly spectacular to drive and is very, very quick.

Transmission/accesories:
· JDM STi DCCD 6-Spd
· Neetronics DCCD Controller http://www.neetronics.com/neet/
· R180 Rear end w/ all supporting components (STi Axles, etc)
Note: I was given a crash course by Neetronics on the diff controller and I can go through it all with the buyer also - it’s a little bit confusing if you aren’t familiar with how the center diff works in these cars. The transmission shifts beautifully every time and all synchros feel perfect.

Suspension:
· Megan Street Series Coilovers
· STi Version 4 RA lateral links (black colour)
· 18mm STi rear sway bar

Rims/Tires:
· 1998 Gold RS Wheels (shown in some pics below) w/ Brand New (at the time of this posting May 14/08) 215/55/16 General Exclaim UHP Tires

Brakes:
· Subaru red front 4 piston brakes
· Subaru red rear 2 piston brakes
· PBR/Axxis MetalMaster front and rear pads
· Stainless Steel Braided brake lines all around
. ABS On/Off Switch
Note: This Car Stops HARD!

Exterior:
. PIAA Super Silicone Wipers - Brand New (these are the primary selling point on this car by the way)
· STi Version 5 front bumper
· STi Version 6 front lip
· STi Version 5/6 fog covers
· STi Version 6 rear spoiler (replica)
· STi Version 5/6 front grill w/ pink i
· STi clear corners
· STi rear lip
· 35% tint all round

Interior:
. Infiniti front speaker components (midrange and tweeters)
· Compustar 2-Way Pager Alarm

Extras:
. Brand New HKS 3" Muffler (mentioned above also)
. Trunk w/ Stock Spoiler in good condition (not WRB)
. Stock Bumper
. Stock … Rebar? (not sure what to call this… the metal behind the bumper)
. Stock Tail Lights
. Stock Signals
. Stock Air Box
. Too much to mention it all, there are tonnnsss of little things that I have and will throw in.

Note: lots of other little random things…

I believe there is about 175,000 klm on the chassis which puts the motor at around 60,000 klm.

I don’t expect to sell this car anytime soon - I will continue to work on it and fix it and adjust the price as necessary.

bump, make me a reasonable offer

bump to a great car. I remember this thing bone stock about 7 years ago

version 8 is 2.5 liter right?

normally yes, however my car has the JDM version 8 motor which is a 2.0L

It has slightly different intentions than the USDM sti motor. It’s much higher revving and has lots of forged internal goodies stock. (8200rpm redline stock!)

from my brief personal experiences between the two, I like both motors a lot - i would take the 2.5L if I intended to keep the motor stock and daily drive the car. the 2.0L is an awesome platform for upgrades and racing, though.

For a 4cyl 2.0L its ridiculously smooth and sounds mean as hell. the motor itself is by far my favourite part of this car.

… the jailbait doesnt hurt either
