FS: High end computer, 2nd 3dmark06 run (XP): 13,663

Also i enabled AHCI on my drives and they are much faster now. NCQ, Hot Swap, they are faster with sustained read/write, really nothing more. But every little bit helps.

If i didnt get a DOA drive from newegg my raid would be setup, so now im in RMA mode for a week or so.

^^The RMA game sucks, i’ve been there, but only with WD and Hitachi drives…thats why i stick w/ seagate now.

oh, i just ran 3dmark06, and without disabling anything (read: Onecare, sidebar, printer software is still running, plus the indexing service i left on) it scored 12,847

When i get some more time (probably tomorrow) i’m going to re-run it, but with disabling some of the basic services/exiting some ram/cpu eating programs…

Also might install XP on it (32 and 64) just to see if there is a huge difference, or a difference at all.

nice 3d mark score, but that aint runnin crysis in dx10 at 30fps. sorry. Considering my rig is a few pts shy 20k in the 3d mark and it barely maintains above 30fps at 1920x1080. Gotta ask…what res did you get those fps at?

(very nice OC on the cpu though. add another gpu and keep it!)

i only run at 1440x900 w/ no AA (thats the one thing that really makes the ati cards die)

And with the price of the hd3870’s at best buy this week, i was thinking about purchasing another one, but then i look and see the 4870x2 is being released on the 20th…i think i’ll wait.

check newegg or tigerdirect. Usually places like best buy jack up the price quite a bit for gpus.

As far as the new card being released. Well my opinion on that is, be prepared for a new problem. New hardware kinda sucks like that. It may perform better, but sometimes the bugs just arent worth it. New drivers and such. Thats why i decided to get 2 8800gts (g92)'s over 2 9800gtx’s. Less issues, almost the same performance. Id just say f it and buy another one now. That OC on the cpu wont bottleneck at all either. youll be hovering around 20k if you got a 2nd card and overclocked them a bit. It really is a nice pc. Not sure why youd wanna dump it and start over.

i’d be surprised if he got it on an online retailer for less than he’d get it at best buy. he works there so he gets shit stupid cheap.

someone buy this so he can get a motorcycle.

the 129$ at BB this week is below cost, to clear stock for the 4870’s, even newegg cant touch the price for an OTD price this week, but they have all dropped over 50$ since the official date was set for the new card.

as for the new hardware thing, trust me i know. I am the person that buys the newest stuff on the market and tests them out, finds the bugs, and finds fixes to them myself. I think that’s the fun in getting the ‘new stuff’. (lol, saying that staring at my hd dvd player). But i read the reviews, and know what i’m getting into long before i make the purchase.

And c’mon, this would be a great down payment for a bike. (although dan, you know with my luck, i’ll be fixing the bike within a week for a stupid accident).

I may have found a buyer, i told him 1300$ for the computer w/ 19" acer LCD screen (comes w/ dvi cable). Personally, i’d rather give it to someone who i know will use it for what it is…but he will have cash in hand soon. Give me an offer, and i’m open for trades of course.

Well, on a fresh install of xp sp3 32 bit (only read 3.25gb of ram- not like thats a huge deal) it did 13,466 w/ the same OC. Gonna’ try XP 64bit tomorrow just out of curiosity, also might try and mess with the OC and services to try and get it to the 14k mark.

w/ OC on GPU:

C’mon people, i need side skirts and some body work :frowning: just make an offer lol…

Ok, last bump.

If it doesnt go by the 17th i’m gonna put it in a new case, take some parts away and try selling it again at a lower price point.

it’ll be:
Intel DG33TL Motherboard
Quad core Q6700
Patriot 2GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12
DVD RW (LG)
WD 160GB SATAII HDD
OS: XP Media Center 2005 (xp pro/vista home premium extra 50$)
for $450 (also, 40$ extra for ati hd2600pro, $120 for hd3870)

Sir, lets take things to pms, Im trying to get myself a new comp but JUST not yet
