hey, I am selling an RB20. This motor is complete, 100k on the Motor/turbo 40k on the transmission.
It needs a rod bearing on the number 1 cylinder, other then that it runs mint. does not burn oil and the crank is not scored or ground down at all.
it comes with all accessories and sensors that come with the motor. has turbo, with shift play that is within specs and the clutch is very strong.
The story behind this: It was in my friends GTS-T, the rod bearing went so he had the motor swapped in, the motor/tranny he bought from tigerjapanese had 40k on it hence the reason the tranny has so much less than the motor for kilometers.
I would like to tell everyone about my dealing with Louis over this motor. Bing opened the thread for me so i could.
I have dealt with many many people over the years on this forum, have gone the extra mile for them on sales, and was always true to my word, and they did the same.
This sale however still has me rather annoyed.
So as the story goes: I see the motor trans setup for dirt cheap, with everything, just needs a bottom end. So i offer $500 and ask for delivery. The seller agrees i forward him the cash same day and am told the motor will be tomming last Tuesday, the 14th.
Arrangements were made they never showed up. I was THEN and only then informed the motor was his buddies NOT his. So I’m put in contact with his buddy Chris who has the motor.
Ok this is fine with me.
Chris and i arrange the motor will be delivered Friday the 16th. He informs me the Turbo MAY be missing and i am ok with it, i don’t need it anyways. I jump on the bus from Toronto to kitchener Thursday to meet Chris Friday afternoon, all is good. He arrives without hiccup.
This is the part to readthe rest is the story leading up to the delivery
The motor however is in pieces. The head internals and all the engine cover hardware are in a plastic bag. The motor had been in the guys truck the cams had been out of it and are rusted, and all the parts are in the box.
I offer chris and his friend who came with him a coffee, while i sift through the box. They decline and leave.
I sort the box. Account for all head hardware, catalog it and store it. I do this for the oil pan everything.
Missing from the motor are the:
Cam gears
Cam angle sensor
Upper timing cover, front portion, rear portion, and the bracket that holds the cas in place.
The turbo(which i’m ok with but is supposed to be there)
I Phone Chris on his new cell number 2 times. Then call Boostaddict(ie Louis) He tells me Chris’s phone was off and to try again. I call 2 more times, no answer. I call Louis back and am told he’ll look into it.
I get a reply to a pm from Louis about Chris looking for the parts at his shop Monday, and then another yesterday about Chris contacting me to own up.
None of this has happened.
I understand that this is not entirely under Louis’s control as he sold it for a friend of his. HOWEVER, i was un-aware of this until after i had paid him. ALSO, unfortunately for him, this makes him accountable for my losses.
I am asking for $100 back or the parts, which is more than reasonable, as the CAS alone will cost $100 to replace. I will remove this post as soon as the subject has been dealt with.
what did you expect when you bought a rb20 w/ tranny for 500 dollars dude…
its understood you wont get everything or something is majorly fucked with it.
the piont here is that be specific when u sell something, yea it cheap but tell the buyer the stuff he is getting dont collect money and then say oh it missing and i forgot to mention that, that would piss anyone off, i dealt with boostadic before, he is an ok guy, but i made it clear dont play with me tell me whats wrong with the item im buying and what im getting, dont beat around the bush
my 2 cents
i’ve dealt with boostaddict many times and know him personally, he would never intentionally rip someone off and if there is a problem i’m sure he will do what he can to sort things out even though its not really his problem, it bothers him when people are unhappy with him.
the problem here was communication between him and chris. i believe chris wasn’t perfectly clear and since it was at his shop he wasn’t able to check right away to make sure he could find everything and just assumed it would all be there since the motor was swapped out for a complete RB20.
either way, i wouldn’t be too worried if i were you, he is a good guy and i’m sure something will be worked out to make you happy, most likely the missing parts are just sitting around the shop and need to be found.
I understand the problem. I was told something by a friend, figured I could trust his word as theres never been a problem before. Matt you know I am doing everything I can to get this sorted out with you and chris. I’ve communicated back and forth with you and haven’t ignored you or left you hanging.
This matter has still nto be dealt with, i have not heard from either party other than this post by boostaddict.
Again, i am only asking for $100 in return for the missing CAS, cam gears and turbo that were advertized. OR i will accept the CAS and Cam gears and will overlook the missing turbo. I am being more than fair.
not really sure why you’re blaming boostaddict for this though since it was chris’ engine, he took the money for it and delivered it to you, louis just posted it for him since chris isn’t registered on SON.
ya but by posting it he 1 took responsability for the sale should have made sure everything was there or atleast said the moter was not his and not even in his possetion this has been openly covered before heck its even against the rules of son for this exact reason. boostaddict got screwed by his friend not Mat if it were me I would have just paid mat and taken it up with my friend who just made me spend money and sullied my name.
i gotta agree with matt on this one. ide hold boosataddict liable aswell.
however, in a court of law theres one problem.
in order to get prtection under the sales of goods act, the seller of the items must hold the title to said items or is not deemed valld to sell them in the first place.
however, the courts will also help matty big time since he is an innocent thir party.
going to small claims court is a hassle tho. boostaddict should compensate matty for the losses he incurred and then redeem the compensation from his friend chris.
after all, regardless if this chris guy lied to boostaddict about it being complete, you cant advertise something like that ( being complete) when in reality it is not.
I have said it before, I blame louis for this mess because, he failed to TELL ME the motor was not his, until: A after the guys who were supposed to drop of the motor didnt show up, and B he had already taken my money a week prior.
and avery is quite correct, “to good to be true”
Boostaddict has a reputation for it seems pulling this stuff. A simple search on VitalMotion shows that he sold an item, took the money from the guy, then decided he would keep the item and take several months to pay the person in question.
If i had known the motor was not in Louis’s posession i would never have purchaced it in the first place. Louis did not devulge this information until WELL after he had my money in his hands.
Thats is completely unacceptable, further more, it shows how much character he has but not being man enough to own up to it.
Sadly it seems that this forum is over run by little douchebags who can get away with whatever they want.
