Atleast put some effort into being able to keep the right to own RHD cars, instead of sitting back letting them get taken from you… I wasn’t trying to impress anyone at all, I was just postin a letter I wrote for fun. lol.
You have a good attitude; opposing what you believe is a biased and unfair article and taking a pro-active stance. But, if you did send that letter to the Ottawa Sun, then it is likely you did more harm than good. If you aren’t going to write and send something that isn’t written seriously then you probably shouldn’t have written it; or at the very least you could have had it edited and done some proper research.

Like i said earlier, if you aren’t going to take a serious stance when writing your letter then you probably shouldn’t have written it. I personally know very little about RHD and importing laws, so i’m going to keep my mouth shut and let those who do understand the law defend it.
Mike is well versed with importing law and owns a RHD vehicle, I’d think twice about calling him out. And if you never sent the letter then no harm done.

And sorry if some people took offence to it, I did it because I was bored and thought a I’d try and show some support, or at least get a couple people to laugh… used the info I have out of my head (obviously) and submitted it. Everything I said is true though at least to my knowledge, I could provide a few links regarding what I wrote probably. I ‘know’ quite a bit about the importing stuff, never done it personally but I’ve done a fair share of research as I intend to do it in the future… guys don’t gotta cut my head off for atleast attempting to do something funny/productive.

but the thing is for the past few month they ve been throwing out the rhd to get it replaced with ford Lhd and down in new market and East area has been done already… ( even dou RHD will save postmans ass in traffic)
so… imo for them to do a project that big… they must of been tried to get it ready for atleast 6 month… and for cp to waste that much money, there must of been a strong reason in the back… such as rhd ban…

And although i do not agree with the article RHD cars are alot more dangerous than lhd. How the hell can you see anything when you are making a left in traffic? If you don’t believe me, sit in the passengers seat next time you are making a left in a crowded intersection. Garunteed you cannot see cars comming into the intersection if there is anything bigger than a smart car in the turning lane ahead.
And they are not gonna get banned anytime soon. And if they do it has nothing to do with safety but with emmisions instead. RHD cars, especially for japan, have crap emmisions and all we need is some dope smokin long haired hippy to start complaining about that they are not “green”.

if it ever did happen, it wouldn’t be very hard to make exceptions for vehicles like rhd post trucks and garbage trucks because through the eyes of the law these aren’t the people who are causing problems. i’m sure no one wants to use the wrong words or generalize the whole rhd community, but i bet half the reason why these people want to ban rhd vehicles is because every other car they see is a skyline or 180 with huge exhaust systems, body kits, etc… all you have to do is wait for one of them to get into an accident and you can convince other people they’re unsafe regardless of if that specific driver was drunk as fuck or not
As a garbage man I’ll throw in my 2 cents. Almost all are accidents that happen with the trucks all occur while on the RH side of the truck (all trucks which are RHD have both LHD, RHD). And I’d say on average theres about 1 accident every 2 months. So the stats they have could be very true, if you take into account all the work vehicles which are RHD.
And before you start ripping into which city this is, just ask yourself if you’ve ever gotten pissed off at a garbage truck and raced to get around it?

the ban in QUE is like that… all cars that are in country and have been safited and registered are legal… theyve just made it so nothing new can come into the country… all the ones that are there already and driving around etc etc are fine and you can still sell them and they are legal for the next person too just nothing new into country… Thats why you see RHD cars in QUe that are for sale with inflated prices because they are worth more there since no new ones can come in… IE my soarer was baught in Que. I have all its SAQ papers i think they are called which show theat its been registered and legal for sale and to be re registered in que if i ever decide to sell it
Ontario getting screwed once again… no surprise though, this kind of thing is normal. Politicians look for easy things to target, even if they are not fair or true for the fact of matter, but as long as the public (the grey mass of idiots) believes it to be so and believes that such politician did something about it, then they like them, and thats the end of story.
So odds are in a society like that everything will be banned eventually nothing you can do.
