Fuel Economy Boosting Mods

Some of these are pretty legit IMO but some seem ridiculous.

Yeah I love this site… Nothing I would do though.

Some are extreme that modify the cars body or take out components but some seem pretty simple.

Didnt read it, but I have heard of disconnecting the alternator pulley and running off of batteries, supposedly there have been marked 5+MPG gains, you need to be an MPG addict to go that far though

its a micro machine!

The effect of front wipers on airflow varies from vehicle to vehicle. Some people use RainX and remove their wipers completely, which is a bit risky and not advisable. Others, however, simply remove the blades and store them in their car. When rain threatens, you can easily throw the blades back on. If you’re worried about airflow over the wipers, this is probably your best option.

If I ever get so poor that I’m concerned about this I’ll just fucking walk.

The alternator makes sense along with removing add on mods like wings and stuff. Little things like the wipers tho I cant imagine noticing a difference in day to day driving other than if you are going cross country on the highway. You might notice a small increase. Might be better just covering your car in crisco.

I’m interested in those MPG calculators though

new BMWs have clutched alternators which free up power and give better MPGs…

my TDI has a clutch alt.
well did. clutch went. now its solid.
