FWD rim differences

What is the difference between rims classified as FWD and RWD? Is it something to do with the strength of the aluminium/magnesium/whatever? Just wondering because I saw in a flyer there were FWD rims and such and its been bugging me… If it is the strength, then can you put the “front” on the back of a RWD car?

I doubt it’s strength related.

It has a lot more to do with offset than anything else. But that really only applies to American RWD cars. I’m running Infiniti G20 (FWD) rims on my S12 and they’re fine.

But old school RWD setups, especially those with drums and solid rear ends have way different offsets.

So, say for instance the cool gunmetal with silver lip rims found at your local Crappy Tire are what you want… Will they work on a 240?

I hope your not gonna buy those :?

Don’t worry man…

they weigh more than stock

i dont think there is any difference @ all, just a stupid advertisement.
It was my thoughts that rims were interchangeable between the front and back of a car, and if they were made for fwd cars, you wouldnt be able to switch back and front wheels.

wtf is that pic?

weight doesn’t matter anyway, they look kinda cool, there are better ones in the catalog…

form before function, right? lol

“fwd”

Buy whatever you feel will make you and your car happy.

Don’t give into this whole JDM TYTE, deep dish, etc. bullsh*t (I almost
sound hypocritical sayin’ this but I had change of heart so bleh)…

Seeing as you’re not gonna have that much dough after spending it on
the car (and the fact that you’re young), don’t worry about wheels if you
really don’t need it.

If you want summer and winter tires, find someone who’ll sell you stock
7-spoke rims and live with that for a while.

Drive the car for a few months because chances are, you will have mechanical failures that may popup and will need attention (and $$$ to fix it).

Our cars are an obsession to some people and it will be hard to not spend
a boat load of money on it.

deep dish is teh sex

I don’t want rims now anyway… I’m worried about handling first…

BTW does anyone know if the older Altima 5-spoke rims will clear Z32 brakes? Those look sweet on a pignose…

Nope
