im gonna put all my updates in the first post for you so you dont have to scroll through all the pages looking for pictures.
so 07-02-08 i blew my engine:
reason i blew my engine was; i was over boosting at a track day. i was running 30+psi and didn’t have proper fuel to balance that amount of air. the vacuum line that controls the waste gate actuator slipped off during a trip around the dunnville track and i didn’t notice because i was concentrating on the track but, it turns out that i was more than maxing out my gauge for 2-3 laps… this did a number on my rods or rod bolts… not sure which one.
heres a video of me over boosting on the track… didnt notice it till we got off the track and the line was just dangling… tried to tape it when it happened before… and that failed as you can see in the video.
this is what i found in the street after the fact:
so then i used all the tools at my finger tips to get the engine out forklift ftw:
with the engine out you can see the carnage on the actual block:
So i bought another engine from Ohio
sent the engine off to a friend of a friend who just so happens to build engines. he took the two engines and used the new block from ohio and my head to make one complete engine. i also threw in some Eagle H beam rods. here are some pics of my new engine next to my old block.
a couple goodies i decided to get for the new motor setup!
a nice 3" o2 housing to go with my full 3" exhaust (no restriction ftw)
and a nicely cleaned up (ported) throttle body:
started bolting my turbo, alternator and coolant lines back up shitty cell pic (09-08-08):
today i got some more stuff bolted up! power steering pump, engine mount, etc.
made really good progress today 9/11/08!, got the transmission on and some motor mounts:
we put the engine on a skid:
then lifted the car and tugged the engine under the car. after that we had to lower the car and lift the engine from the ceiling to meet in the middle and bolt up all the motor mounts:
Then bolt up the motor mounts and drop the car back down!
11-12-08
getting close to finished. looks like early next week it should be back on the streets!
today got the radiator and radiator fans on. a/c is hooked up and i/c is mounted. Tomorrow ill be finishing up most everything in the engine. drive axles and brake assembly go together on monday and engine will be started on monday! wish me luck…
UPDATES!
9-15-08
all i have left is the slave cylinder which i have an issue with and the coldside ic pipe, fluids, spark plugs and the brake assembly just went out and bought all the fluids and sparkplugs… i would say about 2 hours of work left on it before i turn the key! sadly i dont have time to work on it again until wed. so ill post video of it if it runs… cross your fingers! lol.
the issue with the slave cylinder is that the piece that goes in the transmission and presses against the clutch fork has a piece of plastic between it. well i lost that piece of plastic, to order that plastic piece from the dealer it would cost roughly 180 bucks. so im thinking about making one up ghetto style… like a pen cap or somthing. not sure if that will work though. post ideas if you have any
