Well, finished with the whole garage and it’s dry enough to start using. The only problem is having to back over it and touching up a few “problem” spots.
The floor was pretty dry in a few spots near the door, so I put a board down and shut the garage before I went to bed. Apparently it was just tacky enough the board stuck to the epoxy and pulled a small spot up. Not a big deal.
The bigger issue is where a mouse ran across the floor while it was still pretty tacky, it got stuck and died there. I pulled up off and threw it in the trash. Looking closer, I now have 4 dried in mouse feet, some fur, and a few drops of mouse blood and mouse poop. Not sure how I’m going to deal with that, most likely just put some shelving over top of it and leave it be since it’s in the corner.
You absolutely have to wait 7 days before you drive on that. No less. You’ll thank me later.
bump, for my floor, brand new floor, looking to put epoxy on it. Any hints?

sh#t that is right by my work, I will stop by tonight.
im here til 530.
I am going with a color chips kit…
i paid 270, its on sale for 199 now
http://www.originalcolorchips.com/store/index.php?main_page=specials&zenid=a270lnm3kqpgs5d4cq73q8n823
its cheaper then most, but it usues the EXACT same epoxy as the other guys, and is available in many colors that they dont rape you on for being “speciality”
i already bought the kit in the fall then found out my floor is sealed and i would need to sand the whoel thing down, so i sold the kit to a friend who did his basement with it…
it came out REALLY good, and wasnt too hard to put down… he didnt clean the floor that well so there are some dirt spots, but the floor still seems to stick well there, not sure how good it woudl do with tires though since he didnt prep well enough
bump
My floor is a little worn… LIke you can see some rocky areas… what is the best way to fix this? dyi style
you can get concrete epoxy, like a 2 part jb weld, to patch it, before you put the epoxy coating on it
to be seamless you are going to need to sand the entire thing down to level it
sanding concrete… that sounds like a pita…
it looks like a floor bufffer…
you just go over the entire surface… not THAT bad…
but it helps really make the floor awesome
Can you take a picture of the imperfections? Is it like the concrete wasn’t troweled smooth or are they divots in the concrete? To fill holes we use a hydraulic cement, it’s a powder you mix with water and patch the hole. To level slight imperfections you can rent a floor machine, they’re not cheap though. Depending on the severity of the imperfections I wouldn’t bother with the Home Depot floor machine, they’re not cut out for heavy removal. I know you’re not local but try finding a company that rents the Onfloor16 machine. You’ll use the red diamond attachment and it’ll abrade the surface pretty smooth, don’t expect a miracle though if it’s really bad. You will have to seal the concrete after with a single component clear or epoxy paint product. I’d help if I were local, sorry.
Someone local polishes concrete floors. I’ll be pouring the crete this year, but I’m planning on having him come out once it is ready. he is on another local forum if you guys wanted his info.
