What he said. I did a lot of research for my mom when she had one put in and vented is definitely the way to go, especially if you plan to run it very much at all. If you’re going to run it for an hour or two a week just for the “look” of a fireplace you can probably get away with ventless, but any more than that and the humidy becomes a problem.
