My friend has an '02 Ford Taurus and sometimes the gas gauge works and sometimes it doesnt.
He said it will be working fine and then when he shuts it off and starts it again the gauge is buried on empty.
Other times it works fine.
He replaced the sending unit a few days ago and still has the issue.
What could be the problem?
Look on the front bumper. They circled the problem for ya ahead of time.

I wouldnt have bought a Taurus but he got it cheap.
The float inside the tank is probably sticking. Either that or a short in the wiring somewhere.
He probably has no gas.
taurus,s are known for bad gauge clusters i have seen them numerous times ,its g/m that has the bad sending units in the tank,oh and hooked if ya use my ford line again ill beet ya ;D
Theres gas in the tank.
I told him it might be the cluster and he didnt think it was. The car doesnt have a ton of miles on it. Maybe 72k?
Ill have check that. I dont know if that was checked or not.
