Just curious, if anyone out there has a functioning CA swap…what kind of fuel economy are they getting out of it?
I don’t have a CA, but if it makes you feel better I’m averaging 19mpg 35% city 60% highway and 5% fun time, on a STOCK KA24DE!!@! F(@#)#)(#$)).
Most people only discuss highway/city combinations but forget to include “fun time”. I hope this catches on soon, it is a very important consideration. lol
Anyways, you have a low resistance, free revving, 1.8L engine, and if you stay out of boost in a sub 2800lbs car, and have non-rich AFR’s, I think you should be able to achieve 30ish mpg on the highway, and high 20’s in the city.
Yes, I agree with the fact that “fun time” is often left out of the equation. My old 240 (1991 KA24DE) never ran right, lol, but still averaged around 450km to a tank with half city and half highway. I never did the math to boil it down to my mpg, I always just used the trip.
Assuming you filled up about 52L (which always seems to be the magic number for me…) and did 450km. That is about 20ish mpg. I usually get about 400km’s with more than half highway driving. If I do all city, I’ll be lucky to cross 350km’s on a full tank.
All highway, I’ve gotten to 500 km’s once or twice. Still, my dad’s supercharged 3.8L V6 Oldsmobile got better gas mileage than my N/A 4 banger powerless 240. lol

My KA was excellent on gas as well.
That’s pretty shitty, I get close to 500km/tank with my RB25… and I can’t stuff more than 45L in my tank.
I’m lucky if I get 400km all highway driving on my KA…
Oh well… It’ll never drive with another 4 cylinder again…

My KA was a pig on gas and my SR isn’t any better… My friend has a CA18 and his mileage is as bad as mine.
If you want good mileage you better run all stock.
Horsepower, performance and good gas mileage don’t mix… Unless your one of those people that thinks 220 HP is good enough lol.
wow my KA kicks ass lol i never let my gas gauge go under 1/4 tank and i always hit 500km by that point (or pretty damn close). i drive about 75% highway tho… bone stock ka24e with a mushroom air filter flowmaster highflow cat and magnaflow muffler.
forgot to mention full synthetic oil, and i use v-power gas! i think the gas is the key!
The most I’ve ever squeezed out of my CA was around 680km’s.
Usually I get 300-400 because I’m mostly on the gas.
Worst was like 200 because it was in full boost the entire time. haha
