Someone on a local Facebook group had a similar situation. Someone in his household mentioned he drag races the car.
As a geico sales employee and car enthusiest i often talk cars with people that have sweet cars every day, but i am careful to not give the customer the opportunity to say something stupid by reminding them in a corprate friendly way
I’m pretty sure that in his policy you will find it says that the insurance company is not liable for anything that is offroad/timed/competition of any kind. It doesn’t say that if you autocross or go to the track that they will drop you. Bigger risk knowing he does that, sure whatever.
Still telling your insurance company that you race is dumb, but I’m not sure autocrossing is grounds for dropping coverage.
You can debate if autocrossing is racing all you want, but bottom line it’s an increased risk for Geico.
^ I can pretty much guarantee that turned into an insurance claim and more than likely the guy never admitted a thing about autocrossing, at least if he had any brains. Paying out on claims like that is what Geico, or any insurer, is trying to avoid so just don’t even mention anything performance driving related to your insurance company. Flatbed it to the dealer then call your insurance company and tell them you were in an empty lot seeing how the car felt with traction control off and fucked up. As far as your insurance is concerned your cars are just point a to point b appliances to you.
