Put in solid diff/subframe bushings and did the subframe reinforcement as a temporary “just in case” so I could drive the car a bit. Before doing cage work and attaching an upper reinforcement.
Once I had that stuff buttoned up I took the car up to a local track that has open lapping on certain evenings, where unfortunately a fuel pressure drop would show up when I got the car hot (4 laps or so). Ended up wrapping the headers, until I can pull them off and get them coated this winter, as the FPR sits above the passengers side. Then I removed the 2-3 ft of stock hardline from the tank, running straight -8 into the tank, and fitting an amphenol connector with 10AWG running to the pump. Not sure which of those things was the issue, but it works now. Finally got to go to something local to drift the car this past weekend. It was unfortunately a competition, which I would have enjoyed if it wasn’t my first time out in a new car. Had a lot of fun, was great to get behind the wheel and not break anything. Had a minor casualty with too much front sidewall grabbing the bumper and throwing it under the car, but that’s an easy fix.
Car goes in for cage next week. Hopefully get to 100 Drifters of December event for some seat time and then spend the winter ice racing or something equally stupid before actually having a car for spring time for the first time in years!
I’ll replace it. I don’t like the whole “drift car missing panels look”. My Z had a bumper for most events, and when it got knocked off I would reattach it if possible. I did not use the ebrake this weekend for two reasons. I thought flicking it in on power was a better (faster) option, and I have used the new hydro with separate rear calipers a whole of one time and I’m not comfortable using it yet. Basically I’m very rusty and need a ton of seat time to get back into it.
