Giant iPod Touch...iPad

WHICH CARRIERS WILL SUPPORT IT?

The device will come with a 3G Internet connection — meaning that users will be able to connect to the web wherever they are. But which carriers? Apple is in talks with both AT&T and Verizon to support the tablet, according to sources within the companies: One version of the device will run on CDMA networks such as Verizon’s, and one will operate on GSM networks like that owned by AT&T.

It also has an 802.11n chip that supports the latest wireless Internet connection.

But it’s Fox so it’s probably wrong.

Gizmodo and Engadget are both at the event, where Apple is releasing the info, so I would think they would know if it did have that functionality.

well, I fail again

11:13AM “Now I’d like to talk about wireless networking. Every iPad has WiFi… but we’re also going to have models with 3G.”

Fox News gets the breaking story first yet again.

They probably made it up.

The iPad now with wings

iPad pricing starts at $499

another meh

I’d rather spend $250 on a netbook

I’ll hold my comments until I see the price.

edit - there it is. Yeah, $500 seems nutty, but they will prob sell a shitload. If you think about it, the iPhone was that much when it first came out because there was not contract rebate. And people gave up their first born children for that.

I’m curious how $499 is nutty? wasn’t the iPhone close to that brand new?

Edit: I’m pretty sure the original iPhone was $599 then cut to $399.

Yeah, and I am sure that $500 device does not have 3G and probably has a pretty small HDD

yeah, difference is that nobody except for the craziest of the crazy buy it non-subsidized.

Well the unlimited no contract at&t data plan is nice…I know with other netbooks you get stuck in a 1 year.

I guess if I had a kindle, netbook, portable dvd player this would help consolidate.

The keyboard dock is cool

This will be another market changing device.

I bet a lot of other companies will rush to market with similar devices.

The main reason I think it’s nutty is because if it’s really just a giant iTouch, why not get a netbook for half the price and what seems like much more capability.

It’s kind of funny because these devices have existed for a long time overseas.

Archos already has an Android tablet out

Same thing really

it’s the integration with other apple products, software, and touchscreen that makes this device good. simply having a windows version wouldn’t make half as good of a product.
