Gmail Chat

Appears that many work centers are beginning to block this feature. Anyway to by pass this with possibly a different port or something?

Uh, have fun with that.

Let me elaborate.

It’s not a port, it’s not the Jabber protocol, it’s essentially just normal HTTP traffic, but easily identifiable.

If they filtered it, well, you’re fucked.

At least your work doesn’t have gmail blocked all together.

Terry

what if you try using a proxy site such as vtunnel or kproxy? will that work for you?

^ I can give that a try…thanks!

at least you can get ANY internet at your work.

All I can get to is the corporate sites, and the sites on the local intranet.

vtunnel and kproxy are blocked

wtf… stupid places trying to ruin any fun that people have during the day…

Try Trillian. Someone told me that it can find open ports through your networks filter.

I am not limited so I can not try it but its worth a shot.

Yeah the other thing to try with meebo is www*.meebo.com where the * equals any number from 1-55…

but my guess is that Ingram has blocked them all already, but worth a try
