God or no god? Your vote?

^^ maybe some are fine, but i doubt that the majority are though.

How about one nation under Compassion, Dignity, Respect, Caring and Practical Common Sense. Religion seems to turn many people into idiots.

yup

the concept of god is like a santa claus and tooth fairy for adults

haha, it’s 20 to 20 thus far, I really didnt expect that

Meh, my only response to this thread is whether or not there or is not a god, everyone will always have their beliefs whether a higher being exists.

I believe in a mixture of things, but you will never see me pray/go to church/etc.

I prefer, “Imaginary friend for adults…”

It is called respect.

The younger generation today does not have that respect. They do what they want when they want without fear of the consequences.

That is the thing that stands out most for me as to what has changed and why things get so fucked up in today’s society

[/quote]

EXACTLY! The younger generation today does not even KNOW what “respect” really means. I was lucky enough to live across the pond for a while so I have perspective of a different (European) society… The differences are staggering.

Over there you would get the living shit stomped out of you for pulling some of the crap people here pull… and there would be no “lawsuits” or “waaa, Ill call the Police”… you would get fucked up and everyone would say you deserved it for being a asshole. And guess what… Last fucking time you would do that stupid thing again.

Here some jackass neighbor will get you in court for spanking you wise ass kid… just pathetic the direction this society is going.

 at that pic…

I don’t believe in your typical diety but I do think life on the planet earth is not a coincidence either. I believe life was created on this planet and was designed from the beginning to evolve. Organized religion was created to explain the unexplainable but there is little use for it for explanation purposes anymore. The idea of community and giving as well as helping your fellow man out are still great ideas that should be encouraged.

FSM FOR LIFE!

I wonder how this would have gone had there been 3 options.

God, you’ll find him at church in an organized religion
God, but you’ll never find him by following organized religion.
No God.

I just look at the world and find it very hard to accept that an almighty power is directing the show. Useless morons like Hilton and Lohan can drive drunk/high and not get killed, but a state trooper with a wife and 2 young kids can be shot and killed just doing his job trying to hunt down Bucky?

On a larger scale, the holocaust?

If there is a devine plan, it sure feels like a “plan C”. None of the polish and design of a plan A, and not even the decent backup feel of a plan B. Nope, this is the “fuck it, lets just see what happens” plan C. Doesn’t seem very all knowing, all mighty, and all powerful to me.

Maybe I’m wrong and one day I’ll get to stand at the pearly gate and debate this with the great creator. Regardless of the fact I’ve never been to a church other than for weddings, I have no problem looking over my life and stating I’m a good person, probably a lot better than many people that waste a couple hours every Sunday listening to an earthy man preach at them.

I thought I was a lot more alone in my atheist ways. It’s like 50/50 right now.

God.

God

I always say “My relationship with me and God is between us, and no one else” I have never been a fan of organized religion but on occasion I go to try and learn something new for my own personal faith. I have prayed about a lot and had everything answered. I feel that God intended us to create our own paths to end up finding him, it gives us the chance, we make the choice.

Biggest thing I have against just randomly being here is I think back to us being more complex (take any basic bio course) than any computer we have. Now get a bucket, throw a bunch of rocks, metal, and a few other elements and how long do you think you’ll wait till you have a full working computer?

no god, everything is determined through probability and science

no god.
