going to replace the brake pads on a 2000 chrysler town and country

anything i need to know? i dont need a special tool to push the piston back in, just any old clamp will work?

i fucking hate this car

thanks

front or rear? Rears are turnbacks calipers need a calipers spinback tool.

werd

if you go to advance, you can rent them though

Fuck that lol. I actually used my snap on battery pliers on a 01 grand prix. Worked like a champ. I probably would have used the tool but the car was blocking all the usable cars in the backyard :mamoru:

lol

Yeah, i just use a pair of needle nose pliers for turnback calipers…

9 out of 10 times if you remove the lever on the back of the caliper it will push in.

does a 2000 t/c have those annoying calipers? the only chrysler one that ive seen that have those gay ones are 87 turbo cars. 88 they went to shoes inside the disc hat and everything ive seen after that had that style. the pics at rockauto.com showed standard calipers. not the annoying kind.

Hey you should def. check out this thread:

 made you look :gotme:

the dodge vans do not have internal parking brakes so they use the actuator style caliper

then why do they sell these?

and why do the calipers look like this?

A-1 CARDONE Part # 184774 More Info {[Caliper w/Installation Hardware] Reman.}
Rear Left; Original Equipment Phenolic Piston
Rear Right; Original Equipment Phenolic Piston

they sell them cause they use internal parking brakes.

my truck has internal brake pads for the parking brakes (explorer)

what do i have to know if im replacing the rotors tomorrow? anything special?

you might have to take the caliper bracket off to get the rotor off.

if there is a rust lip, it might suck to get the rotor past the shoes if they dont retract back far enough. they should though. its not like drum rear brakes where the shoe has to ride right at the drum inner surface so you dont have a soggy pedal.

Brian

no caliper bracket on the rears

should be good then. im assuming you were talking about the rear rotors or all 4?
