Going to see Michael Moore?
i was being sarcastic. i’m probably one of the biggest supporters of universal health care.
and for everyone that brings up canada, why dont you bring up areas like the scandinavian countries, that get 10x more out of their government for less than we pay
What’s the population of Scandinavia? 23, 24 million give or take? It gets exponentially more expensive the more people you have because of higher adminstrative costs. Even more so when your entire country has an obsesity epidemic.

but the wife wants to go so maybe I can get some ass out of the deal. :gotme:
how long ago did you guys get married??

sheesh

Well #1, we’ve been together for about 6 years now.

#2 So I sit and subject myself to a couple hours of stupidity, then get some. It’s just like being on NYSpeed except no typing and I get some.

around that i believe, but canada is only 33m. The difference is in the execution of it. Neither one is a US equivalent

lol…

Yea, we’ve been married a little over a year, but together for a total of ~8… or in other words: FOREVVVVVVEEEEEEERRRRRRR.

But I don’t have to suffer Moore to get a lil ass :gotme:

I’m trying to understand your argument. Are you arguing that our health care system enables hypochondria? If it does, isn’t that evidence that it’s so good that people can take advantage of it and get treatment that they don’t need?
Let me clear it up for you Sir Fry. My argument is that we actually do have a decent health care system in regards to providing care for those who need it, but other then that is pretty corrupt. Doctors see patients for 5 minutes and charge hundreds of dollars for it. They are quick to hand out and prescribe a pill, that also costs a few hundred dollars (doctors rarely prescribe generic at first), anytime they see a gullible person walk through the door.

So yes, our system is full of hypochondria enabling physicians. Those doctors are doing it to make money, and lots of it, not because they have mental disorder.

Why wouldn’t I be?? I imagine you never plan on actually expressing your opinion, just providing more posts like this.

I jokingly told my girlfriend that I got us tickets and she actually threw a punch at me.

Dude you have no clue…

Doctors see patients for 5 minutes (+/- 10 minutes) because they HAVE TO! The way Managed Care is cutting reimbursement rates, they now have to see twice the amount of patients they did 10 years ago. Add the most expensive malpractice insurance rates in the nation (thanks again NYS) and your primary care doctor is lucky to make $100,000 a year. If you go to the mid west or far west they don’t have managed care like we do here and patients can sit with their doctors for a lot longer, but you’re in New York so suck it up.

And trust me, they do prescribe generics before any other ones. That is usually patient driven because of the cheaper co-pays. However, some managed care companies give money back to physicians for prescribing generics or 2nd tier drugs and get “dinged” for writing too many 3rd tier products. So please explain to me what their reason would be for writing a more expensive drug first? On the other hand, there have been more advancements in pharmaceuticals and something new might, just might, be better than the old product that was out before in which there is a generic substitution for.

If you ever spent 5 minutes in a doctors office you’d change your tune.

(doctors rarely prescribe generic at first)

Do you have a clue what you are saying or do you just spew things as they come to you?

Doctors legally prescribe generics by default. They have to write “DAW” (dispense as written) in that little box at the bottom of the piece of paper or else the pharmacist is legally obligated to fill it with a generic if there is one on the market. If they do that, often the insurance will reject the claim until the doctor can provide written proof that the added expense of the brand name is necessary.

So, it is extremely rare for a person to take a brand name when a generic is on the market. Beyond that, it is even more rare for the health care system to pay for that added expense.

Not that I know anything about that. I was only a pharmacy technician for 5 years…

even though this has gotten way off topic. I will be there on saterday because 1.) its free 2.) I want to see what kind of stupid shit goes down 3.) he has some good points (doesnt everyone) and I can decide for myself the bullshit from what I believe as well. It’s like people are afraid to see him almost, “OMG if i go see Moore, he will brainwash me and i will want to throw guns away and blame everything on george bush!”

Most of the time I have a very good clue, this topic however is another strory.

Yeah back on topic. Michael Moore blows. I’m going to go and get tasered for heckling him.

and THAT is what I am going to see.

^^

I’m pretty easy going. Even though I am a CJ major I won’t go rent-a-cop and be like the University Police that make it into posts on this forum.

im gonna go and throw flannel shirts and dirty baseball hats at him

The United States along with South Africa are the only examples of industrialized nations without universal coverage.

lol when did socialized health care turn into universal health care?
